nice lot. Wish I wasn't pressed for money or I would be interested in all
if just to keep the Vectrex, some 7800 games and console, and sell rest on
eBay.
Just shipping alone is going to be pretty substantial, after I got to
thinking about it. I guess I'll sell the Vectrex and the 7800 on eBay
and donate the rest so my fellow local collectors can have some new
stuff show up at the Goodwill. My list doesn't have another space hog
of mine - a case of unopened Virtual Boys, along with a case of
unopened Virtual Baseball carts.
Don't do Goodwill. They're bad with technologies. Pending who
processes, a lot of that could end up in a landfill. Goodwill doesn't
seem to hold much regard for "collectibles" to start with, and
technological "collectibles" are nearly meaningless. Here in St. Louis,
the most I ever see vintage is boxed Genny. I have had GW employees
here in StL tell me that anything older than playstation gets tossed
out, that they don't bother with old garbage no one wants.
If you're going to do anything to benefit locals, go Craigs List or
Freecycle/ReUseIt, or find a charity that WILL put it out if you really
want to donate it. Ask before donating.

My local don't throw out anything unless it's really broken or clearly
garbage. But they are bad with pricing. One store still have about a dozen
or so 4" and 5" portable TV for $20 each. It was $20 wehen it was NEW and
still worked with over the air but not anymore and defiantly not NEW so
their $20 is just asking to start a permanent dust collection.
Electronica gets all sorts of odd pricing. I imagine it's the 70 year old
ladies who do much of it.
The Salvation Army store near my work is situated in a quite upperclass
area, and the pricing seems to have been set by people who haven't seriously
looked at the price of anything less than a Lexus in years.
Good advice. The sentimental aspect is slowing me down at this point
- I don't want to "unload" on someone who will just throw these things
away in a few months when they get bored. Recently relocated from a
major metropolitan area (Houston) to a "small" college town (College
Station). Not sure how much interest I'll get on Craigslist, but it's
worth a shot.
The biggest killer on this was that you posted here that you don't want
to separate the package. If you were willing, some of us here might
have expressed interest in portions, but I certainly don't need much,
and cannot afford to buy all of it just to extract the few morsels I
want.
If you go Craigs List, do it in small, workable doses. An all or
nothing package is less likely to sell.

You're right JT - I guess I was referring specifically to my 2600
collection. I probably only have a few desirables in there, and I was
trying not to invite "Well, I'll take that _____ cart off your hands."
But if you allow a little cherry picking, you might end up money ahead
over any other way of liquidating the collection.
