Could always dump the 3-1 and 9-1 roms and poke around in the hex edit
:) Anyone else have anything to say on the subject?

Can you give me a list of games in the 3-1, 6-1 and 9-1?
I'd imagine the glob houses an FPGA/ASIC which emulates the hardware of a
few machines. The ROMS contain only the games program/graphics/sound roms,
plus the firmware for the menu system which would most probably run on one
of the emulated platforms.
Now 3-1, 6-1 & 9-1 do not necessarily mean there's hardware in the glob to
emulate 3, 6 and 9 machines respectively. Many of the earlier games ran on
identical (or very similar) hardware, so a single hardware emulation could
support multiple games.
So the menu system probably enables the appropriate section of the glob for
the chosen game, before booting the game.
My guess is that the extra games on the 6-1 all run on the same hardware as
the games in the 3-1. The 9-1 probably introduced a new hardware platform,
or variant of an existing platform, and hence requires a new FPGA/ASIC. So
you're out of luck there - you can't just swap roms.

I saw some ages ago for some huge $$$ but avoided the chance of being
burned.. figured they'd be alot like those joysticks with inbuilt games..
close, but not the real thing.. and colors off - etc.. ( if you know what I
mean... )
