Video Game Trade Show Announced

Chicago, Illinois – (June 17, 2010) – Remember how much fun you used
to have playing Atari, Nintendo and all kinds of games on your
computer? Well, you will have the rare opportunity to play these
great games again at the Video Game Summit, Chicago’s premier video
game trade show. In fact, several dealers in retro games will be on
hand offering games, controllers, systems and memorabilia and will be
prepared to buy or trade for the games you have held onto since you
were a kid. Who knows, you might just have an Atari cartridge worth
$1000 or more collecting dust in your attic.

“Retrogaming,” the playing and collecting of classic video games, is
more popular than ever, especially due to next generation systems
having “classic” game collections such as Intellivision Lives or a
download service such as Nintendo Wii’s Shop Channel where you can buy
classic games for systems such has Nintendo Entertainment System and
Commodore 64. In fact, a dedicated group of programmers still issues
new games for retro game systems, such as the Atari 2600, last seen in
retail stores over 30 years ago.

The Video Game Summit, now in its seventh year, brings together
classic and modern generation gamers from all over the country to swap
stories, games, compete in the Atari Jaguar Festival Challenge, the
Atari 2600 Challenge and new this year the NEC Turbo Festival
challenge Tournaments.

The Atari Jaguar Festival Challenge games will be: Tempest 2000 and
Gorf Classic return for another year. And a new addition is Mad
Bodies.
The Atari 2600 Challenge games will be: Wizard of Wor, Warlords,
Asteroids, the return of our Laserman challenge which uses 2 games:
Laserman 2k3 a graphical hack of Activision’s Keystone Kapers and the
now complete version of Laserman’88 based on Dan Iacovelli’s game he
did on the Ti-99/4a and now programmed by scratch using the batari
Basic complier language (http://bataribasic.com). Plus new this year
is a bi-annual event that celebrates the homebrew games made with the
batari Basic compiler.
Our newest challenge is the NEC Turbo-fest which features three games
for the TurboGraphx system: Bomberman ’94, Battle Lode runner and R-
Type.
All this plus others gaming systems can be seen in our Gaming area
which includes the following systems: Wii, Playstation, DreamCast,
NES, N64, Lynx, and Xbox.

Also a new addition to the show is Star Worlds Arcade’s Celebrate the
Arcades Featuring Wizard of Wor and Centipede arcades with their own
tournaments
Also our very own Special Event Organizer (formerly Tournament
Organizer), Paul “ZimmZamm” Zimmerman and Andrew Breyer “the 1981
international 2600 Asteroids Champion” will attempt to do the world
records on the following 7800 games: Asteroids, Asteroids Deluxe and
Space Duel.

The 2010 Video Game Summit will be the only place to see these
attempts as well as Andy’s
first public appearance since his championship.

Also the first 50 attendees will get an Entertainment Consumer Assc.
membership card and bag.

VGS is open to the public and people of all ages with an interest in
video gaming are encouraged to attend. According to the event’s
promoter, Dan Iacovelli, “this promises to be best the show yet with
all the systems we will be showing” Best of all, admission to The 2010
