Daytona USA graphics problems

We have 4 Daytona USA PCBs. One is 100% working. One is completely
missing all 3D graphics. Two are flickering, like they're missing
every second frame of the 3D graphics. Swapping the PCBs around shows
that the video boards are defective.

I have made three 96 pins cables to get the video boards away from the
stack, and thereby being able to press the SMD components down
(lifting legs problem). No legs seems to be loose. There is no change
on screen by pressing or bending anywhere.

No chips are hot. The hottest chip is the 315-5646 (304 legs), but it
is not hotter than the working board. The 315-5647 (304 legs) is
colder than the working board.

I know Virtua Cop is the same video and cpu board.

Does anyone have an idea what the problem or solution could be? Or
know who can fix the video boards?

Thank you.

Doesn't Virtua Fighter use the same board? If so I have the complete guts
and pcb from one that I will sell.

Hi there

Sadly Sega don't want to support these boards now and there are no more
graphics chips available from Japan - hence getting these boards working is
unlikely unless (as you have tried) you have loose connection problems

You may get lucky and find someone has some spare vid chips but I know that
there aren't any at Suzo in the UK as we now sell them complete board
assemblies for their customers

If you do get stuck - we have 9 remaining video PCBs in stock that are tested
and working - that will be the last of them after that.

Thanks

I had the same problem. I sent my board set back to Sega about 6 months ago
and it was returned repaired two weeks later. The Video Processor ended up
being bad. Total cost with shipping ended up being around $130.00

I live in Denmark. I have earlier tried to buy a Schematics for a
OutRun from Sega distribuator in Denmark, Sega GreatBritan and from
Sega USA. Sega distribuator cannot get a schematics from Sega
elsewhere. Sega Great Britan do not even answer email. Sega USA do not
want to sell anything to Denmark. It is very sad - we have a museum
here with a lot of Sega arcade machines. We do a lot of work to
preserve these old machines.
Can you tell me where you send your boards? WWW.?

Hi Eddie,

Your best bet is to buy some Model 2 Video boards from Jeff F at
vektorlogic.com he is located in the UK, so it will be cheaper shipping than
buying from the US, also Sega Spares do not have any older PCB custom parts
anymore, there is a world shortage of Model 2 Custom CPUs.

Good Luck

Andy
