My blitz 99 tackle sound went out. the game isn't as fun this way... i
checked it in the test mode and it says it has two bed files. On some
games you can rebuild the files... can this be done in Blitz 99?
Please help if you have had a similar problem...i love this
game....ahhhh

You can get the .chd file from mame, convert it back to a raw file (using
the mame chd utility) and reburn your drive if you think it's simply a bad
file... you can also burn a new drive cheaply (apparently it doesn't have to
be the same size) the same way.

Steve is correct, I will elaborate on the process -

You need a registered version of WinHex to do this. Download from
www.winhex.com and then - somebody told me that http://astalavista.box.sk
can provide a keygen or something I wouldn't know for sure. Then, you need
to download the .CHD file for the game you need a hard drive for. Download
the latest mame - then use the CHDMAN.EXE file (distributed with the latest
version of MAME) to extract the .RAW file from it.

You need to type:

chdman -extract sfrushrk.chd c:\sfrushrk.raw

My example above is for my san francisco rush the rock alcatraz image. yours
will be named differently. Next step is to open WinHex, Choose File -->
Open and open the RAW file. Then choose the DISK pulldown, and select CLONE
DISK. Browse to the source file, then browse the destination box and choose
the drive (that you already connected to your computer before this process)
and click the "copy entire source file" box. Enter "0" for the start sector
and click OK.

You must click OK to the two warning messages you get about destroying the
file system, and about going over the 20 mb undo limit. Let it run, unplug
your drive and put it back in your game. Then paypal me $20. (just kidding
of course!!)

The only gotcha is that the .CHD for blits is almost 400 Meg...

Thank god for the mame burner groups!
