I don't see anything in there that would make him a dick...sometimes
things sell before you have a concrete deal. It happens! (Happened to

First, he has a pair of brass ones to sell it to someone else while you were
in very simple and quick negotiations for it, it wasn't that you were
dragging it out or questioning quality/etc... You said you wanted it, asked
for shipping costs and payment methods, then find out he sold it to someone
else. Totally unfair on his part.

However, how could you "already sent my payment" when in fact I see nothing
in the correspondance that lists the total amount with shipping? Your
statement doesn't make sense and isn't backed up by the communication
provided.

Therefore I question if this is infact all correspondance, or if something
has been held back (making you less truthful), but then again if it is
everything, then you again are not being truthful as the is no way you could
have sent payment without agreeing on a total price with shipping, so as far
as I can see both of you may be at fault here. Just walk away.

I think calling him a "piece of shit" or "dick" is a bit extreme....
But it does appear from the emails that Warren did agree to
sell him the Jr Pac kit. How is selling it to someone else while
you're waiting to calculate shipping OK?

I've had only *one* deal with the Gorfman, and there's a
reason there won't be another. I wasn't at all happy, he admitted
the item was misrepresented, but made no real effort to make
good on the deal. You only have to F me once....
So he gets a spot on my elite "shitlist" (along with just two other
folks I will not deal with: Barry White and Shane Ellis).

Here's an e-mail that I got regarding this item from another arcade
guy:
He says,
What was the deal on Google with the Jr pac? That was you that tried to
buy it right? GORFman emailed me offering it for $250 and before I
could reply he posts it for $200. He also offered me 3 cabs but wont
answer questions on the cabs or give pics on them. I am not driving 2
hours for his crap especially if he is screwing people.

This guy's a crank, a dickhead, and a piece of shit. I'm the one stuck
with a $360 money order. I've e-mailed him and he hasn't responded.
Stay away form him. Most of what I've heard about this guy since I
poted is bad things. I got many e-mails!

And, by the way, the guy who's questioning me and saying that I'm
holding somthing back, I'm a Milwaukee Cop. I do these thingson the
side and have been working on arcade games since I was 13. I'm 32 now.
I grew up in the business. My dad had an amusement route until a few
years ago when it was sold. I have made plenty of deals, sales, repair
quotes, and trades. Once I put my word on the line, it has always been
gold. Sure, I've been on the short end, both on service quotes and on
selling my things too cheap and being offered more mere seconds later.
I have yet to ask for more or screw the other guy. In this hobby,
those things happen. I look at it this way, I've gotten plenty of good
deals, many more than the bad deals that I've made. This one bothers
me because I'm sitting here with a $360 money order that is useless.
Working in Law Enforcement, I know that the bank teller is right. I
can not legally cash a money order that is made out to him, nor am I
willing to forge it as a "Pay to The Order Of" to myself. If I got
caught doing that, thaere gos my job. And for what, $360?

You can just cancel the money order. Go to your bank with your receipt.

Josh, I'd rate you 1 step above this guy. You even went as far as to
tell me that this would be shipped much immediately after I questioned
the transaction 3 1/2 weeks after sending payment. You took 7 weeks to
ship me a joystick! I think that anyone here would find that
unacceptable. It took me threatening to refer the matter to the
Federal Attorney for me to get the item, 7 weeks after payment! I take
your "I told you so!" comment as stating that I'm asking too much. If
expecting the goods that I've been sold and/or paid for in a timely
manner is asking too much, you and a few others have some serious
problems. I hate to refer to eBay, but if a buyer has not received
their item within 10 days, you file a complaint and can file a
complaint with Paypal to get a refund. Paypal would have definately
refunded your money within 2 weeks of the complaint. I've bought
1000's of dollars worth of Arcade items here and have only had 3
problems. I am good friends with a few other regulars on here and ran
thesesituations by them. They feel that both are unacceptable. Josh,

You should be able to cash the money if you can show proof that you
purchased it.
Every money that I have purchased, had a receipt attached to it. Also
the money order has a space for your signature and address as purchaser.
Talk directly to the manager of the bank and show the proof.
If that doesn't work go to the web site of the bank on the money order
and follow the instructions for missing and uncashed money orders.
Put a stop payment on it (That will cost some money $10.00 - $25.00) and
after a few months you will get your money back.

You legally can get your money back, since you own the money order until
it is cashed by the person you designated. Hopefully you put your name
and address on the money order and you still have the receipt.

Good luck,

Something smells

If you are a cop, you should know dang well that you can cancel a money
order with the receipt stub, and you can cash it to yourself with both as
proof you purchased it. And you should have written your address AND signed
your name as purchaser when you bought it, so again, the bank has proof you
bought it.

And if you're a cop, you should know better than to publicly libel someone
on a usenet newsgroup. I would fear for your job for your choice of posting
titles and subject content more so than cashing/cancelling a money order YOU
purchased.

You are royally messed up sir. The seller may have been at fault, but given
your demeanor here and your "pumping" of your job description, you are the
one that better be careful about their reputation AND possibly job, if in
fact you are a cop. I'm sure the mayor and city counsel of your town would
love to see your public behavior in permanent archive on Google.

Good luck. Your chance to out a bad seller ended with the third word in the
title of your first post and your reputation only plummets each additional
post and word you type.

Am I missing something here or has the "Accused" failed to defend

And as far as the money order.. From what I remember, under a certain
dollar amount (varies by issuer, but usually around $100-500) the store
you bought it from should cash it for you. Above that dollar amount,
it must go back to the issuer and they will issue a check to you in
your name to cover it. I have had to cash money orders in this way
that I wrote out to others. Hell, you should feel fortunate that you
*HAVE* the money order in your possession. I've had more than one
encounter (back when Al Gore was designing the intenet and before ebay
was even thought of :) where I've sent out a money order, only to have
the seller "disappear" and leave me with no $$ and no merchandise.

And umm. As far as being a police officer.. I'm not knocking the
profession but that doesn't entitle you to an assumed level of
credibility greater than the general public. At least not in many
people's eyes it doesn't.

There seems to be some things omitted here.. this cannot be ALL of the
conversation.. there's a key date or two that are not here also. Any money
order you buy you can cash with the receipt, don't have to be a cop to know
that. At any rate, you have your money order so you're out precisely
nothing (unless you lost your receipt) and i'm guessing there's more to the
picture than you're sharing here. Sounds like you 'think' you're screwed
because you haven't done due diligence to know the rules of money orders.
To be truly screwed, someone must have taken something from you... otherwise
you're just crying and tearing up someone to make yourself feel better.

It sounds more like you watched one too many episodes of "Cops" and have an
identity crisis. Just take a deep breath and say to yourself that reality
is ok and not as bad as it seems.

There are some trained professionals out there who would be willing to treat

They may even have some classes in which you can continue to hide behind

Or maybe just a crack in the skull... :)

You start off with a fowl-mouthed thread bashing someone in poor taste,
fail to mention that you were too flaky to reply to him, and the
people that stood up for him are the bad guys?

<As for the others, I guess this is why I am a cop and you're still
living at home in mom's trailer >

Wooo hooo, you're a cop!! VERY impressive. If you think you can pull
the tacky, "better lifestyle" card on people, you're an ignorant joke.
Chances are that most (if not all) of those folks you were bashing have
salaries and net worths that put yours to absolute shame. And to boot,
they don't live in a cesspool like Milwaukee :-)

<Thanks for all of the e-mails and comments from everyone who is trying

to help or knows that I'm getting screwed>

Screwed? Are you seriously that ignorant that you didn't know you
could return a money order? Do you understand that if you don't get
off your butt and reply to someone in a day they'll sell to someone
else? Do you realize that, even if the other guy were at fault (which
it doesn't sound like he is), your lame, foul thread HURTS your case?

to work with you to cash the money order and return the $360. However,
you thought it was a better idea to come on here and be a moron and air
your dirty laundry to get sympathy... Well, it didn't work and you just
look stupid!

I mean jeez, what is it with people that have to have everything "right
now"? So it took some guy a few weeks to send you a joystick (you've
been doiig this for 19 + years, can't you wait?) was it the end of the
world?

The longest I've waited is 5 YEARS for something!!! and 2 of those
were AFTER I had sent the guy a cashiers check!!(It was a dedicated
Space Ace + spare parts + DL stuff so is was quite a bit more than
$360!) However, I just kept in constant contact and worked with him. I
got my game and love it but hated that it took 5 years to get the
thing. Sure I'm overly patient, but life's too short to be a complete
jerk like you.

In this hobby I've learned to be patient and in the end I've never been
screwed.

Jim
