This is my first attempt at trackball in a multicade. I bought the
special harness that hooks straight from trackball to board. What
setting does it need to be at? The instruction book tells me nothing?

Hi Greg, long time.....yeah, the instruction suck on this one. I ran into
the same issue with mine. What I had to do is go into the menu and change
the type of game you have. Set it to upright with trackball control (I
think that's what it is called). Also if I remember correctly, I had to
hook the trackball up to the player 2 controls, but with the supplied
harness this shouldn't matter.

Yes, long time no hear... Glad to see you still collecting/repairing
etc.. Anyway, I have the settings on upright, with trackball on
normal. I have the wire going directly from track ball to the
connector that plugs into the board. I do not use any of the player 2
controls. It seems as there is no power going to the trackball?

yes you should have 5v going to it. I'm not sure how that harness is wired,
I'm guessing like any other trackball harness. Measure the red and black
wire to see if you have 5v on the red wire. If not, you can always run
voltage to it.

Here is a link in case you need to know the pinouts:

It's about 1/2 way down the page.....good luck

Double check your pinouts. On the trackball harness I had, the pinout
from the 60-in-1 board had the 5v and ground reversed. I blew up the
opto boards in my trackball because of this. I swapped the 5v and
ground then replaced the two opto boards. After that everything
worked great.

I also bought the trackball harness.
Had no luck.
It only works with happ trackballs is what I have found.
The trackball in centipede does not work.
Nor does wico trackballs.
Only happ I have found to work.
Best advice is wire to the player 2 controls and not waste the money
on the harness.
Good luck, Randy

I bought the trackball and harness from Jammaboards.com. The trackball
is Happs. Your right, its easier to just wire the ball to player 2
wires.

The trackball wires need to be tied directly into the player 2 wires.
Problem solved.

Stuck switch most likely. Does it click when pressed? If it does click
then perhaps some wires are pinched and shorting out...
