"Hi, I recently bought the Tron side art that was inquestion from ebay. It
was
from seller 1dpi14 There was alot of negative posts about it. However! It is
a
very very nice piece of art. I have two Tron games. The first one has almost
perfect side art. So I refuse to touch it. The second Tron had no art
because
it was reconverted from some kind of airplane game. So that left me with
needing side art. After reading about the person who sells the crappy art
work
and Darin's run in with Disney. I pretty much felt helpless in my search for
side art. So when this side art came up on ebay, I had a discussion with the
seller about how it was made and what the deal was with it. It is pre cut
and
looks great. When I got the art in the mail I immediately held it right next
to
the side art on my other machine. Wow! It looked just like it! I bet if you
took a ruler to the artwork it would come out exact on the lines and such.
Rick
is the guys name and his email address is ed...@carolina.rr.com He is
planning
on doing some more runs on the art. So if you have horrible Tron side art or
none at all, I suggest you email him or watch ebay for it.
I have no personal gain from this post. I am just trying to help out all of
the
people who need to try to get ahold of some good side art.

WE DONT USE INKJETS!
We also use UV cured inks. No one else has before.
We worked from an NOS set, we didnt take digital photos and touch them up.
I could go on, but I know most of you know what to expect from my art.
Im sure this guys art is a fine alternative if you cant wait a few more weeks
for the best. I dont need to post testimonials that dont use names, our
reputation speaks for itself based on the daily orders we receive.
We also hope the TRON inner art will arrive any day from the UK for sale.
Thanks
darin
Dane.

How can you make this claim of being "much better" when you haven't even
seen the product that the original poster is offering?? This is the third
time in the last couple of days that you've taken a shot and cut down the
quality of the other guy's product or repro talents. Looks more like "sour
grapes" due to the fact that he produced a product and has it available
before you did.
I don't know who's is better, and really don't care since I don't own, or
want, a Tron. I just think some parts of your replies have been snide and
uncalled for.

He uses an HP5000 INKJET! There ya have it. Maybe he cleaned the art up a
little to make it better than an arcadegrafix product art wise, but his
printing process is no better than theirs and his materials cant match what Im
doing.
Not only am I not using an inkjet with very restrictive color reproduction in
comparsion, but I am also using UV cured inks AND lamination. My pieces are not
hand trimmer either, they are cut by machine for accuracy.
Since Im spending so much on this project to have it done right Im going to
spout about the great measures we have taken to ensure the finest print. If its
sour grapes as you call it, then so be it. He is no different from
arcadegrafix. He offers a product people want and doesnt tell us upfront its an
inkjet. If all you guys wanted was in inkjet then all you had to was tell me so
because I can do it even cheaper than what he did and Im sure better since we
used NOS and recreated it in a Vector file. Whereas he used a Canon D30 3.1
Megapixel camera and cut and paste the 12 pics with lens distortion and
lighting issues fom simply moving the camera for each pic.
I have a nice long list of people who want my art. For the people that didnt
know the differences of what is available, Im making it known in the SAME way I
do with arcadegrafix.
Lastly, I tip my hat to my competitors when they make a top quality project. A
google search will yield posts from me to back that up. I also buy or trade
with my competitors to acquire the great pieces they do make on a regular
basis.

So my criticism of inkjets goes backyears longer than this thread. Its all over
google if you care to search it.

I think Darin has a great claim to being "much better" simply based on
the materials he is using. Even if this other art in question does
LOOK perfect, it probably isn't made of lasting materials that will
resist fade and look right over time.
I'd trust Darin's work over the work of some person I've never heard
of before any day of the week. He pays attention to every single
detail and is an asset to this hobby.
I think most others out there will agree with that.

Inkjets still have serious limitations in comparison to silkscreening or offset
printing. Anyone that has been to my home will attest to the many modern color
inkjets that we own. I fool around with them and they have their place. But we
dont feel TRON is one of them. I will admit the HP5000 you use is a very nice
inkjetter indeed that cannot be bought at Best Buy.
But if inkjets were as good as you say they are, then the repro guys that
screenprint are being taken big time from their printers. Steven, Jason,
Philippe, Dave, Appolo and myself are all fools. Inkjet is in fact incredibly
cheaper to print and can be done as one off's as needed with minimal risk of
capital. You dont really believe we just want everyone to think we are cool
because we spent so much money do you?
Have I seen your product, no. Im posting based on the start to finish process
you told me in email. I even had a long discussion about this with the 2
commercial printers Im using on this project and they went into great detail
about what you could and could not accomplish. I could go on and on but I
touched on the points I felt were necesary to be told.
Can your art be better than previous inkjets of TRON, you bet! Is it probably
better, perhaps so. But unless we botch this terribly an inkjet print of TRON
cannot match our process.
Id also like to add that I recieved many testimonials about the nice work Dave
Taylor did on TRON, thats why I bought it. Turned out to be one of the worst
pieces of repro crap I have ever seen. Totally wasted my money. Maybe Im a
little more anal than others, who knows.
And the other inferior products you mentioned, yup Im aware of them. If I had a
true Robotron NOS cpo Id repro it in a second. I never did say all of the repro
guys products were perfect. Ive called a few out on the carpet, but was also
there to praise when warranted. The NOS Qbert cpo flaws you mention, well we
see that all the time. Manufacturers back then were pumping out product as fast
as they could with little regard to qc as we all know. In the repro game we can
take our time to ensure each piece is as we intended. I send stuff back anytime
I catch an error.
I think you could be an asset to the trading community to do "one off's" and
very limited runs when a screenprint just isnt feasible and youd surely be a
better alternative to arcadegrafix. Id even use you myself for that, honest.
Ultimately the consumer will choose and we both feel comfortable with that.
I will let you have the last word if you choose. Id also be happy to discuss
this in private via email or telephone. Have a nice weekend.
