So I guess there's no Zaxxon repro sideart, huh?

Can't find any Zaxxon sideart anywhere. Does anybody reproduce this
stuff?

Nope, this is another one of those borderline projects. Galaxian is a
problem due to its full size and front artwork make it too expensive.
Zaxxon just has decals on the side. Zaxxon, Wizard of Wor, and track and
field are all projects which aren't being repro'd and are all very
borderline for profitability. The problem is, the demand for videos is
getting less and less, and if those haven't been done yet, the odds of them
being done are fairly small. In the case of zaxxon, I'd say you might be
able to get away with digital printing. If you can get the cost under $100,
it might be a worthwhile effort. For any kind of screen printed repro, I'd
guess that you'd need a minimum of 30 pre-orders in order to get the job
done.

Guess it's just my luck that I have two borderline projects.

With the cheap prices that Zaxxon's go for, you'd be money and effort ahead
if you just sold your current game for whatever it would bring and simply
just purchased a game in better condition.

I think the same can be said about 90% of the games out there now too.

I'd love to purchase silk screened Zaxxon Side Art..
If someone does repro these... I am in for one set..
Just contact me to get on a pre-order list (payment upfront is OK) if
it goes ahead..

i'm not sure why people are so hung up on digital inkjet printing.
i'm know quality can vary significantly but there are printers out there who
will give you an outstnading product comparable to screened artwork.

for the most part the quality is good enough that when you look at your game
you'd be just as happy with it as if you paid the money for the screened
artwork.

i agree.. my preference... screened artwork. but in the cases of a lot of
these games where there just isn't any repros going around and it's a decal
like zaxxon and most of the artwork black. i think you'd be really please
with a good inkjet print and without measuring (because my printer charges
by square foot).. probably get both sides for about $70.

i didn't see the side art artwork on the graphics repository so that'd be
the first hurdle.. vectorizing it.

Well there's been three Zaxxon's on eBay in the last month that went
for between $300 and $400 and one for $265. That's not bad.

I agree. For these projects that aren't going to get screenprinted, digital
printing is not the end of the world. My only issue with the Galaxian
project was the cost. If its going to be $300, it needs to be perfect. If
its going to be $100-150, then digital will do. The other factor to
consider with zaxxon, is that it will be difficult to cut correctly since it
is not full side art. Ideally, it should be die cut, but if you're only
talking about 10 sets, getting a die made is not that practical. You could
print "cutting lines" on it, but that is still prone to user error.

well if i had the digital art, i'd send it out to my printer as i'm probably
getting a couple of cpo's and marquees and some custom multipac side art
printed up. with a measurement i could give you an accurate price on what
it'd cost to have done. last time i got something done it was about $8-$10 a
sq foot. since the lines on it are pretty straight on this side art it'd be
easy to cut.

seems like there's only an immediate need for 1 or 2 sets.

it's an option.. let me know since i want to place my order in the next week
or so.

Well if someone could take a high res image of their Zaxxon sideart and
send it to cooke[at]jory.ca, I could vector-ize it. It would certainly
be appreciated and would likely wind up on localarcade.com too. Might
take a while, though. Certainly longer than a week.

I have a set of NOS zaxxon art. What kind of scan would you need of
it...I have a digitial camera..I thought about having it reproduced so
I could provide some extras to other collectors but I haven't
researched the cost. I would rather have it done silkscreened being
this is original copy it would be worth having it look awesome...of
course a good scan would be cost effective as opposed to silkscreen I
guess.

Just for a point of reference, I would estimate that it would cost around
$5000-6000 to run 100 silkscreened sets. 50 would probably run $3500-4000.
