I had decided on sticking to the Smithsonian museum idea..Original, though
damaged, is better than restored. I've changed my mind. My Pac upright is
near perfect, and I at least want to the front of the Ms Pac to have nice
paint. I have an NOS marquee and an arcadeshop cpo, so those would be a
sharp contrast to badly faded artwork.
OPTIONS
-----------
*Sticker sideart - not a chance..I hate the way it looks
*Purchasing stencils - too expensive..would rather buy another project game
for that
*Tracing and making my own stencils - Chances are, with the complicated
paint scheme, the end result wouldn't be up to my standards. I'd probably
screw it up a bit. I'm still considering this, if nothing else, just the
front of the cab.
*Handpainting - On http://www.appolo.com/projects/newpropage.htm , you can
see where Dawn Appolo handpainted the cabinet. It does seem that this would
be easier than doing a stencil job, and could make for a nice paint job.
You could do the painting in the same order that you would do the spray
job -
Blue, Yellow, Pink, and finally Black.. overlaying small mistakes as you.
Has anyone else tried hand painting a Ms Pac cab. Did you have great
results or is it a bad idea?
Thanks in advance...

I was just getting ready to start repainting mine.. Same way.. Hand painted
would look fine as long as you pay close attention to the brush marks..
Probably not as smooth as spray, but iff you take your time.. The real trick
will be gettings exact matches for the paint.. Have any luck getting CMYK
numbers for the colors??

So I hand painted the side art. It actually came out "just okay", but
way
better than what it was. I actually resorted to buying a decal for the
front.
When you hand paint, and look closely, you can tell it was done by hand.
It doesn't have that manufactured look and you can see brush marks.
Then again, I'm a cruddy artist.
Anyways, I used ALOT of masking tape for the straight lines.
I really didn't care because my games are lined up next to eachother so
you can't
see the side art anyways.
Good luck!
