The install guide is posted at:
http://www-mtl.mit.edu/~mspaeth/pics/projects/SWESB/swesb.html
For reference, here's a copy of the original posting from the first
run of kits:
---- 8< -------- 8< -------- 8< -------- 8< -------- 8< -------- 8<
-------- 8< -------- 8< ----
The kit includes 3 daughter boards and 4 bipolar proms:
The 4 proms replace the 4 matrix proms no the CPU board.
The CPU board plugs into the CPU socket, the NOVRAM socket, and one
of the ROM sockets. The xicor 2212 is replaced with a modern NOVRAM
chip, for future reliability. Unlike the previously available kits,
no modifications are needed to the CPU board to install the kit (ie,
you don't have to cut the legs or traces anymore).
The sound board plugs into the sound CPU socket, and has the
roms on-board, so unlike the old kits, there's no need to bend up
pins on chips and solder wire-wrap wire around.
The AVG expansion plugs into the rom socket on the AVG board.
Unlike the old kits which switched games and then waited for the CPU
to watchdog and reset itself (often allowing the NOVRAM to be
corrupted),
my kit has a momentary switch to toggle between games, and includes
circuity
to automatically reset the CPU to avoid NOVRAM corruption issues.
Like all of my kits, all the important chips are socketed, and use of
surface mount chips and programmable logic is avoided to ensure the
boards
are easy to service in the future (if necessary).

Selectable menu or toggle switch?
According to the installation manual, it's a toggle...reset and switch..
Jumper on the board to select which game comes up at powerup.
Remotely mounted momentary switch to go back and forth between games.

Just joshing with you Mark. But really, how many are we talking
here. Is there enough to last a few weeks in case we are looking at
buying a pair of monitors this week. Or is it like nine spare that
isn't already promised and we'd all better move our collective asses
if we want one, like right now.
Just curious as I thought I had read that you were only making up a
few at a time and already had a pretty long line. Just looking to
gauge.
In case this post has seemed more cynical than the humerous it was
meant to be, let me just say that on behalf of the group, we all thank
you for going out of your way to be the wealth of knowledge and know
how on the group. Its great that their are still people who care about
classics to do this kind of work in their spare time.
Now if we can just get him to program a Star Wars ROTJ remix of the
first two games(with added sound files) that allow you to play all
three in sequence for the third batch of multi boards. How hard could
it be to program an endor speedor bike scene in vector from scratch.

Yep, works great. Was lucky enough to be part of the first run. I've had
no problems with it and I am very happy.
I do question why it only seems to record two high scores per set
(sometimes three) of initials on Star Wars, but I'm assuming that may have
been the way the original game was. I never removed the kit to test my
theory.
Easy install, easy to switch. Very pleased.
Tim
Thanks for the kind words.
Saving 3 scores is the normal behavior for Star Wars and ESB. It would have
probably been possible to make it save the entire high score list, but I
chose not to make any code changes to the game code, as the 'high score'
crowd require the code to be exactly the same as the original.
heh
Hey Mark,
Is this the final version of the multigame or do you have plans/ideas
to midify this a little more?
Don
[thanks for the reply on the toggle, thats what i thought/read and I
just wanted to confirm]
This is most likely the final version and the final run of this kit.
Assembling and testing a big run of kits and ends up making me want
to stab myself in the eye with my soldering iron, so I'm going to
hold off on that pain for a while =-P
=======================
Just a quick update...
All paid orders have now shipped, and the remaining kits have all been
built and tested, and are ready to ship, so from now on, orders will
ship immediately.
