In Need of a Smaller Joystick Assembly

I have a cabinet that will not take any regulation size joysticks
because when it is closed up the joystick base rests against the
monitor, creating an open circuit and making the joystick almost
useless.

I've tried Xarcade and Wicos and haven't been able to get any of them
working consistently. So I need an option that has a smaller foot
print under the control panel.

Does anyone have any ideas on what kind of joystick I should be
looking for? How about a cocktail Pac/Ms.Pac Joystick Assembly?

Thanks a lot.

Have you looked at the Sanwa sticks ? They've got a depth of about 1.4" under
the panel. For the exact dimensions have a look at

Pretty nice sticks too although I swapped the springs on mine to give a more
resistance on the throw.

Thanks.

Perhaps I should try this one first: http://www.jammaboards.com/store/cla.../prod_282.html

Those are great sticks for the money. I've been using several pairs of
them for over a year with no issues.
