This rant is aimed at specific ops on the #rgvac channel. I will not
mention who, I assume they know who they are. Don't read this if you
don't like to read rants, unless you are one of the frequent #rgvac ops.

And I don't mean every op there either.

SPACEWARNING Intended to prevent
PACEWARNING S skimmers and lurkers
ACEWARNING SP from reading a rant
CEWARNING SPA not aimed at them.
EWARNING SPAC
WARNING SPACE This rant is aimed
ARNING SPACEW at several specific people.
RNING SPACEWA
NING SPACEWAR I do not mean
ING SPACEWARN to mention names.
NG SPACEWARNI Nor do I ask
G SPACEWARNIN for more
SPACEWARNING than basic common sense.

Why don't you guys grow up. Just because I happen to annoy a couple of
you is no reason to ban me entirely. You can always /ignore me. There
are many more civil ways to deal with this than an on-the-spot ban, and
worse, a ban that extends beyond me to others that I know are friends
to the group and use the same system as I use to connect to the
channel. Banning all of freenet.nether.net is not the same as banning
two specific accounts, and even though there would be no other way to
completely ban me than banning all ids on the servers I connect from,
others would be banned, some of whom are not disfavored by the
channel. A case in point would be sar...@freenet.nether.net, who chats
at night from a different address. It is not fair to ban her from the
chat because you wish to ban me. I'm not asking necessarily for an
unban on myself, just a peek into your common sense and an unban on
saravo connecting from nether. Is that too much to ask?

Since when was SaraAB "not disfavored by the channel"? That's news to me! :>

Try a program called freedom if its still around. www.freedom.net it will
allow you to login from a large selection of different dns and would make it
hard for them to ban you if you are net savvy. Remember to change your IDENT
inside mIRC if thats the client you are using. Or get a shell and a bounce
if your a K-RaD L33t0 HaX0R. IRC is a funny place... <EFG> ( :

Good luck

I think Dosius was banned for frequently typing way off topic,
persisting when asked to stop, and being argumentative and annoying.
When kicked, he would log immediately back on, persist, and be kicked
again. The kicks eventually turn into semi-permanent bans. He would
use another shell account, only to get it promptly banned, as well.
It's far beyond an "/ignore" situation; it's more along the lines of:
Why would you want to hang out somewhere that you don't fit in? While
many of the #rgvac regulars chat far across the subject lines of video
arcade collecting, it is the mainstay of the discussion there - the
common bond being that a high percentage of the regulars and even
occasional visitors have is that they all collect video arcade games.

I don't understand the mentality of "use this software to spoof your
way in" - is it just to display a bit of computer savvy gained by the
efforts of other programmers? Quite a few of us have been in the
computer industry (and hobby) for many years, and such wannabe-hax0r
trickery is boring and unimpressive. If you aren't going into the
channel to discuss the topic at hand, then find another channel. It's
that simple. For exmaple, you wouldn't go to a techno dance club if
you liked country music, unless you just have no life and enjoy
irritating people, right? After all, there are country music clubs to
go to instead.

Uhh...
I simply responded to a question of how to get back in a IRC channel from a
person who I do not know. Nor do I know why he was not allowed in that
channel. Nor do I care! I dont think "is it just to display a bit of
computer savvy gained by the efforts of other programmers". In fact I think
that specific program is a joke but easy for newbie types. I also have been
in the computer industry and online community now for almost 19 years (thats
right 19 years! Apple // 300 baud modem ect...) and went to my first auction
in 1984 (bought my Joust machine i still have there). So am I cool like you
now? As for "wannabe-hax0r trickery is boring and unimpressive" I would have
to agree. The statement I made using those words was a JOKE! You obviously
are much to uptight about your little channel and how cool of a computer guy
your are to even get it.

I know the off topic annoying types of ppl on IRC all to well! And i
actually understand where you are coming from. But to flame me for a half
informative and half joking response to some obviously inept IRC user and
question my intellect and character in the process is ridiculous.

Holy crap dude, relax! Try decaf! I was making light of the
possibility of him using the program you suggested to him, not
attacking you. Do you really think I need for you to prove anything
to me about how long you've been doing this or that? No, I don't, but
people like Dosius do - and that's one of the most annoying things
about him. Always has something to prove, for example logging in from
multiple different shell accounts, etc. to avoid a ban. It really is
tiresome.
