I used my Jamma Cabinet last night for the first time in about three
weeks, and when I played it, it seems that my monitor now makes a
buzzing sound of some sort. I wanted to ask if anybody here knows what
it could be, and if it's anything I may have to worry about down the
road. Hopefully it's nothing serious, and that it's just nothing more
than something along the lines of static electricity, but I need to
know what the problem may be just in case. I actually have a
Playstation system that does the same thing when I use it, and some of
my PCB's make buzzing sounds when I play them, so I doubt it's anything
that bad, but I don't want to take any chances of it possibly being
something that can cause big problems down the road.

I should say that I also got the monitor brand new about two and a
half years ago, and I also know that many other arcade machines can
make buzzing sounds in the background when they're on, so I'm not that
worried as of yet. Still, I want to know what could be causing this,
and as always, if anyone here can help me, please respond, or contact
me right away, so I can figure this out, and maybe find a way to make
the buzzing sound stop. Thanks in advance as always for any help anyone
here can give me, and anything that can be done to help me with this
would be greatly appreciated.

Are you sure it's in the monitor? A buzzing monitor is kind of weird,
usually it's a high pitched whine. If it's a true buzz, maybe it's the
isolation transformer in the bottom of the game. Sometimes the core of the
flyback seperates a little bit from the coil around it and causes a whining
noise, you can fix it sometimes by putting toothpicks in the gaps in the
flyback, or get a new flyback. If it's the transformer, you could just put
a new one in. I'd try pressing on the flyback (carefully, lol) while the
monitor's on and see if flexing it a bit makes the buzzing go away. Might
want to try unplugging the degauss coil too and turning it back on to see if
it still buzzes.

I had a marquee light that buzzed when the ballast was starting to die.  Something else to look into.

Well maybe I am wrong about it being the monitor, as it's hard to
tell exactly where the buzzing sound is coming from, and it could very
well be the marquee light, which I'd rather be the case, since that
would be easier, and cheaper to replace, than the monitor. Since the
monitor was bought brand new only two and a half years ago, I doubt it
could be having problems so soon, and it's not like I use my Jamma
Cabinet that often, as I only play it once or twice a week tops, and
sometimes don't even use it for a week or two here and there. I also
didn't smell any smoke, or anything like that coming from the monitor
when it was on, so it's probably not that after all, and hopefully I'm
right about that. I don't know exactly what I should do right now,
since I do not know for sure what is causing the buzzing sound, or
where it's even coming from, so I may have no choice but to wait until
something actually happens before I can do anything.

Hopefully nothing serious is about to happen, and as long as the
buzzing sound isn't anything crucial in my machine going bad such as
the monitor, or the power supply, hopefully it's fine now. If anything
else happens, I'll be sure to post it here, and if anyone could
possibly help me further with this, and maybe fill me in on what is
happening, that would be great, just in case it could be something
major that need to be taken care of now. At this point, I'll just have
to wait and see what could happen down the road, and just hope that it
isn't anything critical that is causing the buzzing noise.

Disconnect your speakers and see if it goes away. Chances are it's the
60Hz component from the 120VAC line-in. Do you have a line filter
between the power cord and your power supply?
