Man, these Saturn commercials are so lame. I mean, they always have
idiots on the commercial. Like the guy in a bunny-rabbit suit. What is

I thought the Sony PSX commercials SUCKED. The clips of the games were

kind of crap is that? Are they trying to insult the customer?

I don't know to which bunny suits you are referring, since I don't live in
front of the TV and computer like you do, but.... Sega's commercials have
never been that esoteric, quite twisted, but never unintelligible. Maybe
it's just you.
Sony's commericals are neat, but they really don't say much, they are too
busy trying to be hip and cool. Most consumers will not now what they
are (the commercials) unless they on on the internet and are fairly
informed. But given that a majority of Americans still trust snail-mail, it's
doubtful.
You know, if you spent a little more time thinking, you might have something
useful to say.

Oh yeah, the PSX commercials *REALLY* focus on the games. They show a
couple of grainy screen shots, and really short movies followed by a
bunch of non-sensicle,eclectic garbage. I mean c'mon, what the hell is
the (ENOS) Lives crap supposed to be? Those commercials make no sense
what so ever. You are right about one thing though........you truly do
*NOT* get it. What a waste of human life......

I have to agree. The Sony commercials are really bad. I'm sorry, but I
didn't like that fast crap they did. I could barely see if the game
moved great or not. 2 second shots aren't that great. And to make
things worse, I had the impression that Ridge Racer looked really awful.

you must be a complete dumb ass if you cant understand a comercial that
you say is meant for idiots.
Oh, and a idiot talking through his ear is REALLY a good idea.
Facts:
The Sony Commercial has FOUR games on it, with the games being played.
The Sega Commercial has TWO games, which are only shown at the end for
3 seconds.
(ENOS) Lives...means "Sony Lives"
Everyone knows that the PSX will out sell the Saturn on it's first day,
live with it.
Sure, the games look cool, the 1/2 second you see in each commercial.
Face it, PSX's commercials aren't about how nice the graphics are or how
fun the games are. They are pure style, no substance.
Saturn's commercials are much better. You get a good clear look at the
game. It's just a commercial, so it's not worth much, but they show that
Sega is confident enough to let people get a look at the games. Sony's
commercial show a certian hesitence to let us really see what the PSX is
capable of.
Just to be sure, I don't own either a Saturn or a PSX. I'm waiting to
see which system is better supported, and has better games.
Nate Barnes, using his father's account.
Someone else who saw the Sony ad on TV (one with Toshiden) told me they
had no idea what product was being sold when they saw the Playstation
ad. If Sony would just show off the games more, they would be
bound to get more sales. The graphics and sound of Playstation
stuff is a strength. Sony needs to show it in ads.
I know people say the Saturn ads suck, but at least they show
the games.

Sega's Commercials give us full screen looks at the game, we get to
see a couple seconds woth, unlike Sony where it all flashes bye! I
don't even get a look usually at any of it, A sony commercial could
cause a epileptic seizure. Sony's commercials are like the other guy
said Low on content, and high on Hype. One final ramble, I am going to
guess you went out and bought Win 95 because the commercials were so
informative too, right Vegas!

All right first off, you guys need serious help. Second If I
remeber correctly the First set of commercials have 3 games, Panzer
Dragoon, Daytona, and VF. That is the one with the Guys in the Suits
watching the movie. Also just cause one commercials has more games in
it doesn't make it better. Is more always better to you. Oh gosh Lets
look at 4 games for a second each, instead of 3 for 3 seconds each. I
haven't seen the ear commercial so I won't comment on it.

****Let's see... you have never seen VFRemix in person. You have never
played RR so you have no idea what a "greased" car feels like. Yet you
still try to comment on stuff you have no knowledge of whatsoever.
Try to fake some IQ here... TSD and RR will be popular but the rest of
the titles on this first release BLOW. I played 7 of em up at EB and they
have close to ZERO gameplay. Wait till you try the tennis game... if you ever
get to. Turbo Eclipse is still no fun at all. Kileak... dull grey and boring
Doom clone... Raiden... got old 3 years ago and the "new" version has a lot
of crap flying all over the screen but really isn't any fun either.
Since it looks like Mom may not be getting you a PS you may or may not
find this out for yourself... one day you'll be a big boy and realize that
no one system "ruleZ"... the games make the system... as this first crop
of PS releases shows...

I thought the first Set of Saturn commercials were good, I don't like the new
set, but I can name commercials by other video game companies that are stupid
as well. As for reserving PSXs, depends were you live. Here some stores have
some on reserve, some don't. Also, most people buying PSXs have a Saturn.
You Vegas sound geneuinly intersted in getting a PSX. If you buy one, how
will you afford a U64? I thought you had to be fifteen to get a job? What
will you use to by the U64?
That was too easy :)

I totally agree with you here. I thought that the "Theatre of the
Eye" commercials were amazing; after hearing nothing but negativity
about the Saturn from a bunch of mags, I was amazed that people were
actually complaining about the graphics of the system I saw
advertised. I would disagree with you, however, when you say that
they give more coverage to actual screenshots than the Playstations
commercials. The Playstation's commercial's are almost totally pure
screen shots.. there only a couple of two second screen shots at the
begining and end where they dont show the games. I wasn't
particularly impressed with the Playstation's commercials though; it
seemed that the resolution was very poor, like the screen shots were
recorded off of a TV. Why would Sony do this? I've seen some of the
games running at local electronic stores, and they look much better.
*It's called work, no I'm not 15. Older ;)
Besides, PSX+U64= $550 (with $100 due to trade in), that's $450.
That's around the cost of a Saturn. I probably won't buy one though,
I have to see the U64 first at the Shoshinkai Show this November.
> At least Saturn owners have a system to play 24 hours straight.
Pulled
>many all-nighters on your U63 or SNES-CD lately?
*Sorry, I NEVER play games ALL night. Besides, I have great games to
lookf forward on my SNES:
Chrono Trigger
Killer Instinct
DKC2
EarthWorm Jim 2
Yoshi's Island
Batman Forever
Those are just a few...
p.s. When is Sega going to release the 64X (add-on that makes the
Saturn 64-bit)? I hear that Sega will release it this x-mas, right
before they release the Jupiter64 next March.
**Gimme a break! DaytonaUSA is BETTER than RR?! Sorry! NO way! Read all
the mags, and i do mean all! They say RR destroys DaytonaUSA! I rented
DaytonaUSA and it totally stunk! Choppy animations, bad music, etc. PSX
are sooooo much better than those saturn commercials! Whats with the
guy in the bunny suit? Or the idiot who talks from his ear? What is
that crap?!
I'll grant you that the screenshots could have been cleaner, but the
overall idea behind the Sony spots is a brilliant one.
Let's face it, advertising a videogame console means appealing to kids
and these days kids seem to have very short attention spans, so rapid
edits like this is to be expected from an ad campaign for kids.
The whole Enos thing is a great idea. It is a little like the advertising
for the first Batman movie where they never had the title, just the SYMBOL
of Batman and people got it. This goes further by being cryptic and
creates interest in the viewer by scratching his head and thinking about
it. It also alludes to the whole Frodo/Elvis/etc. lives phenomenon to try
to elevate the PS to legendary status. It doesn't take a rocket scientist
to look at these spots and realize it's a PSX ad. The Playstation logo
appears at the end. But it is filled with those little subliminal
messages that are enough to grab the viewer and make him want to watch it
again and again (or tape it and stillframe through it) to pick it all out.
So it's more than quick cutting for quick cutting's sake.
They make it like this secret society thing, where the PSX release is
this D-day secret invasion and you are being let in on the secret.
It's also a little like the ads they had for E.T. where they didn't show
you E.T. so you had to actually go see the movie to see him. Like I
said, it's t he tease. Show you enough to get you interested but then
pull it away before you can get your fix.
1) You use money to buy a U64. Work is a means of getting it.
2) You played yourself, you split personality gimp! "I'm not 15?" and not
we? Give it up!
3) If you're older, act your age and not your jock size.
4) $450 is the cost of a Saturn with one game + the three free games.
5) You can't buy a U64, yet you can take a trip to Japan?? Get over yourself!

I don't like both.
Sony's is too vague and relies on hype and MTV polish.
Sega Saturn's generally sucks. Unlike the Genesis commercials (like Comix
Zone), the humor is not there - just lameness, the only saving grace is that
they show the actual game screens.
Ned
St. Peter's College
Funny, the magazines I have gave Daytona better scores than Ridge Racer. Fancy
graphics don't always make the better game. From what I hear high Velocity and
Sega Rally on the Saturn are amazing. Guess we'll have to wait and see though,
of course you've already made up your mind that Saturn sucks.

Actually, VB commercials work well cuz of how they are designed. You show
the graphics in all red, you risk turning people off. You don't show
anything but a head set and you get people curious. Those curious people
try one out and despite the red graphics, find the 3D effect neat, thus
left with a better impression than just showing graphics on a commercial.
