What the hell! I don't even know what light-shading or whatever its
called is.. All I know is that I've been playing a version of VF
(remix) for the past few weeks that is *superior* to the arcade
machine. It plays exactly the same, and it looks better.

Don't waste your time replying to the Vegas. They'll post any lie that
they think might piss somebody off. Arguing with them only encourages
them. I have them in my killfile, so I don't see their original posts
directly, but I occasionally see the fallout.
For your information, light source shading is the feature of the original
VF in which the shading of the characters differs according to where they
are relative to the light "source." It is most noticeable on Sarah's stage
where the lighting is from underneath--a nice effect. Needless to say,
none of the other fighting game have this feature at all, and Sega dropped
it in Remix in favor of texture mapping. VF Remix, by the way, is an
arcade-perfect version of a game that was released in the Japanese
arcades, running on Sega's Titan arcade board.

This is correct. However, as it happens, Sega's Titan arcade system, which
is used for the arcade VF Remix is essentially identical (except for using
ROM instead of CD) to the Saturn, just as the Tekken arcade board is
essentially identical to the Playstation.

It's alot perfect than VF was on the Saturn. Also, you can't really tell
from looking at a picture. I saw a video of MK3 on the PSX and it looked
perfect to me.

VF Remix is NOT superior to the arcade. It's mostly texture-mapped and
not true 3D like the arcade, but then again neither is VF 2 for the Saturn.
AM2 is mostly texture-mapping this game too, more than the arcade VF2. I
like my Saturn, but it just can't handle 3D that well, not like the PSX.

******"Not true 3D"?? Do you really think you should post here...? In front
of the whole world? FYI - Tekken and TSD HEAVILY rely on texture -mapping
to get their detail. Putting texture maps on polygon objects doesn't make
it any less "3D".... maybe you just mispoke;-)

Many games (including VF Remix, VF2, Tekken, Toshinden, Daytona, RR, Panzer
Dragoon, etc) are both texture-mapped AND 3D. What are you talking about?
Since when did texture mapping make a game "not true 3D"???????

^^^^^^ you make it so easy for me!
Actually, there isn't much texture-mapping in TSD. However, I don't
see anything WRONG with texture-mapping. The VFs don't have that much
voluntary 3D movement. Maybe that's what he meant.
