3d specialist arcade MANUFACTURER? Hmm... Well, that could be
Namco... but if Namco is still too tight with Sony... That leaves us
with...

Sega.

Only problem... since when did you see an EXCELLENT F1GP from a japanese
company?

i received the latest 3do magazine with a Syndicate demo on the
front.

Syndicate is erm..Syndicate nothing new ,nothing fancy it actually
feels a bit sluggish but not having played the game since getting a
demo on the Amiga a few years back its hard to say.

The magazine has:

News and articles on the M2(6 pages)
Interview with John Edelson (3do Europe) (2 pages)
Feature on Surround Sound (3 pages)
Preview of Creature Shock (1 page)
Preview of Space Hulk (3 pages)
Preview of Daedalus Encounter (2 pages)
Preview of StarFighter 3000 (2 pages)
Preview of Studio 3do games (2 pages)
Wing Commander 3 review ***** rating (3 pages)
Immercenary review *** rating (2 pages)
Suprieme Warrior review ** rating
Syndicate ***** rating (3 pages)
Quaratine ** rating (2 pages)
Flashback *** rating (2 pages)
Slam n Jam ***** rating (2 pages)
Ridge Racer vs Need for Speed article:-)
Usual Software directory, cheats/codes and coming soon pages

If anyone want me to elaborate on the above let me know.

A couple of things interesting are

The memory expansion is released in japan at 14000 yen, it
holds 256k of memory. They doubt a Europe release is on the
cards, seeing the M2 has pcmcia save cards most people will
wait for that. (true)

Industry reactions on the M2 look promising from about 20 companies
comments , even MD of Bullfrog and Ocean who werent impressed by the
3do are intersted, Bullfrog are definitely developing for the M2.

EA are already working on Road Rash M2.

3DO are currently negotiating to have four of 1995's hottest arcade

games ported to the M2. Two of the worlds most famous arcade
manufacturers one a 3d specialist are about signed up. 8-10 games
will come exclusive to the M2.

Pony Canyon are developing F1GP for the 3do. An officially endorsed
Japanese F1 racing sim.

These please:

Wing Commander 3 review ***** rating (3 pages) <- Give me as much as you can
Ridge Racer vs Need for Speed article <- Just a brief summary please
cheats/codes and coming soon pages <- Any cheats we haven't seen, Gex ?

Note:

Syndicate ***** rating (3 pages)

It would be cynical to suggest that Syndicate has a high score and coverage
because they gave allowed the magazine to use Syndicate as the cover disk..
far too cynical...

Besides, I played Syndicate on the PC 2-3 years ago. It's old hat now.
Even older that DOOM. If you haven't bought Syndicate for a platform already,
where the hell have you been ? Not waiting for the 3DO version, thats for sure.

BTW: Why is it that when every you get a cover disk, for whatever platform,
the game gets a stonking review.... strange that...

I have three quick questions:

1) How much memory does the 3do have now?

2) About how much would that be in dollars?

3) Does the M2 have additional memory to improve upon what the 3do
has now?

Thanx for the help!!! :)

Odd they should rate Syndicate so highly, thoguh. This is a straight port
of a 2-year-old game. A good game in its time, to be sure, but one that,
unehanced, isn't going to blow anyone away.

Wing Commander 3
-----------------

FMV is much improved over the PC version, EA/Origin have gone further
than just using Cinepak they have used theyre own system and the
finished product is almost broadcast quality, considerably better
than even Shockwave. The actual game is much better than the PC vga
version and tends to be on par with the Pentium version. The 3do
version has 65000 colours compared to 256 colours of the PC, models
are reduced in complexity but hi-res and more detailed texture maps
have been used so they look no less impressive. It runs at around 20fps.
There is occasional slowdown during heavy combat but its minimal and
overal the game feels fast and responsive.
Sound has been updated with full surround sound which does alot for
the atmosphere.
It doesnt mention how close you can get to ships in the review, one
difference I did notice on the sampler between the two versions
was the collision detection on the 3do version was much worse
than the PC, I hope this has been corrected for the release.

Ridge Racer v NFS
-----------------

Need for Speed comes out best of course. RR is great for all out
speed and fun but NFS is the best long term. Ridge Racers
problem is of course being a coin-op conversion compared to
NFS being an original title. But NFS car design, car handling and
more tracks makes it come out on tops.

Cheats and codes
----------------

Another World, Burning Soldier, Demolition Man, The Horde, Jammit,
Rebel Assault, Soccer Kid, Stellar 7,Super wing Commander, Way of the
Warrior.
Part two of Star control2 play guide
And a walk through guide for Alone in the Dark.

Actually I did play it on the PC, I remember the Svga version of it.
I never really got into the game, perhaps I'll buy it for the 3do but
then again its a pain in the arse without a mouse.

Or how about inviting the reviewer to lunch and then buying him so
many drinks you get him to add another 20% on the review score.

If your talking battery backed up ram it will still use the nvram
off the original 3do but the M2 has a PCMCIA slot for ram cards
anyway so those should be alot cheaper than the 3do memory expansion
system.

Space Hulk there is nothing really new I havent heard already on it,
half of it is about how the idea of the game came about.

They mention that they have a look up & down system and will
mean that aliens will come from above aswell, so if you fail
to survey your surroundings correctly you'll be in big trouble.
The other marines (3 of them) are very convincing and very
intelligent as you watch them move around and open fire at
aliens.

There looks to be quite a few missions, including brand new
missions, training missions and historic missions from
the old PC version. Each mission is more flowing than
the PC version and is decided on the previous mission
performance. You also have various ranks, starting at
the lowest you can build up until you can take command
of all the marines.

From the preview it sounds one good game, it looks to be up
there with the top 3do games its totally upgraded from the
previous versions and it looks it. Will be out in August
according to the article. Cant wait.

: : Preview of Daedalus Encounter (2 pages)

Its an FMV interactive movie featuring Tia Carrere of Waynes
World fame. They say it looks promising, and the 3do version
already looks better than the PC original. Due out it June.

:
: I'd like to hear what they said about these games. Did they mention any cool
: adventures that are coming out soon? (hope...pray..)
:
Only Creature Shock (July/August). FMV adventure/shoot em up from
Virgin.
Dragon Tycoon is a role playing game which sounds good, but is
currently only a japanese title.
D.. by Warp another FMV adventure game nice graphics.

: thanks :)

This looks to be one of the VERY best titles yet for the 3DO, the pix
look pretty much as good as anything I've seen so far on the

by comparison.

KR->: Preview of Daedalus Encounter (2 pages)

This WILL be rubbish. Lots of very nice FMV plus the odd puzzle now
and again. PC version has been panned in the UK.

Discworld is pretty fine but who knows how far away the 3DO version?

postitive about it. But I wont go as far to saying I'm looking

lost vikings for 3do is still in development at Beam Software in
melbourne, australia.

beam are also working on total eclipse for the playstation for CD and
after that are supposed to do the conversion of GEX for the psx as
well.

they -were- working on a volleyball game for 3do/psx but when theyt
made a hash of some baseball game for the SNES or Gen, EA got the
shits big time and pulled the project on them.

they're also doing youngblood (image comic) for the SNES at the
moment.

Quote from PC Zone review (PC version, natch):
=============================================

"...and it looks very nice, but, basically, it's a crap game."

Overall score: 58%

and

Quote from Ultimate Future Games (PC version):
=============================================

"...hours of movie watching and every ten minutes or so you must
vaguely wave a mouse crosshair at a `puzzle'."

Overall score: 60%

I could probably dig up more dismal reviews but I think you get the
general idea.

This won't mean diddly squat with the playability aspect, but the 3DO
version is on 4 cd's while the PC is on 3 (that's what it says on the
box...). I also read that origin once said you could shove more stuff on
a 3DO cd than a PC cd sooo...
