Secondly, I was wondering if anyone out there has any comments
on World Builder 20th Century Almanac, The Animals, or Putt Putt goes
to the Moon. All of which have been released in my area about
a week ago. I mean, Total Eclipse is pretty mind-blowing, but I'm
also curious about more banal titles.
At least 5X the speed of the early level tunnels.
Why? In World 5-2, there is a hell tunnel (entrance on top of temple)
in which you a forced to go through EVERY GREEN SPEED COLUMN in
order to fit through the closing doors (about 30 of em)...a real
bitchy tunnel, but one in which speed reaches unbelievable
levels.
When you think about it, there is no reason TE couldnt reach ANY arbitrary
speed. Even at 24 fps, the program simply need to skip
over points along the Z-axis (into the screen) in order to
give the increase in speed.
In other words, by rendering at Z= 1, 3, 5, 7 makes the
speed seem 2X compared with Z=1, 2, 3, 4.
So to go 100X, render at Z=1, 100, 200, 300...
However, no one would win the game then....

Well, there are a few problems ... if you exceed too great of a distance
you end up moving so fast that it doesn't look like you're moving forward
anymore, but rather just skipping from spot to spot (this depends on the
frame rate, so at 24 fps you should be able to go pretty fast before this
becomes a problem). Your other problem is collision detecting, as if you
skip too fast you could end up skipping through walls, etc. (there might
be better ways of doing this ... I'm a neophyte at these things)
Something less than the narrowest dimension of your ship's collision area
is probably recommended.
