I first playing Gex at around 11am Friday morning! I've been playing for
2 hours or so today (Saturday morning) and I have a decent feel for the game.
When starting the game, as usuall a "Crystal Dynamics" logo come on.
Afterwards, you are taken to a menu to either "Start Game, Options, or
Preview". I tried the preview, and basically is shows the same preview
of Slam 'N Jam as the new 3DO Sampler #3 does.
Upon selecting start, there is a full motion video which tells the plot
of the story. It has Gex himself (Dana Gould as Gex's voice) narrating.
The quality of the FMV is nothing to brag about, but it is certainly not
bad. It doesn't compare the the excellent FMV of Quarentine (one of the
few good things about that game), its about average.
After the FMV, the game starts. A map is drawn and you are able to
select which level you wish to goto - kinda resembles Super Mario
Bros 3 for Nintendo. There are five levels in the game. GraveYeard, Kung
Fu, Cartoon, Jungle, and Rez's Nerve Center. So far, I have only played
the first two - GraveYard and Cartoon.
The graveyard world was nothing too impressive. The graphics were really
nice, but it was nothing special. Still, it was kinda funny listening to
Gex spout nasty comments, and act out scences from movie. Once time, I
had forgot to get something on one of the levels and I went back. When
the level started, Gex said something like: "You're so stupid, you had to
start over. Just like college, eh?" and "Gee, doesn't this place look
familure." Another time, after clearing a level he whipped out a
cigarrette and yelled: "Smooooken!" <Jim Carrey>
It wasn't until I got to the Cartoon level that I really started to LOVE
this game. The levels are HUGE, and UNIQUE! There are all kinds of
little things in the background and around the game that are absolutely
hilarious. This level was HUGE improvment over the first. I can't WAIT
to get to the next levels.
Controlling Gex is probably one of the most fun parts of the game. Gex
is a Gecko, which is a lizard with suction cups on their feet. In the
game, Gex is able to climb on walls, celings, floors, and even the
BACKGROUND walls! The control is pretty easy to get used to, and its
actually kinda fun. You can go almost ANYWHERE. Its unlike any scroller
i've ever played!
As I said... this review is was quick and short. If anyone has any
questions, just ask. I didn't get into great detail, but so far, I am
VERY happy with this game. I'd recommend that you pick it up and try
it. If you don't like it, just return it! :)
Any questions? Have fun!

Right before the exit. It rests on the little stonre "stand." The
remotes REALLY blend into the background, so you have to watch really
closely.
If you still cannot find it, i'll play it quick and find it and then give
you a detailed description of the scene.
