Hey guys,

I purchased Vectrex CUBE QUEST at the Classic Gaming Expo this weekend, and
the box states that it includes a color overlay. However, there was not one
in the box. Did anyone else here purchase a copy that did have an overlay.
I didn't know if perhaps they had it planned and had the boxes printed, and
then it didn't come to fruition, or if sadly (and I hope not) that I was
shorted...

Thanks,
Michael Thomasson

This is what Sean said earlier:

"Is there an overlay?
No. I toyed with the idea of having one made, but the cost of
printing it
is highly prohibitive so an overlay will not be included with the
game.
It will be sold with a Vectrex size/style professionally printed box
and a
Vectrex style instruction booklet."

So there wasn't an overlay.

Can you tell us how is the game like? Screenshots? :)
I'd also like to get a scan of the cart/box/manual for my Vectrex Game
Database (under construction) at:

Cube Quest did NOT come with an overlay. The box printer used an earlier
revision of the artwork I had sent them instead of the later revision on
which I had removed mention of the overlay.

In regards to whether or not the game will be available for purchase now
that CGE is over. YES, it will. Give us a few days to recover from the
show and we'll post info as to how to obtain a copy. As you would expect,
there is a limited number of copies available for sale however.

Hi Guys,

Sadly, I am in the process of moving and my Vec is already packed up :-(
It's killing me because I picked up Vec Caves, too. So, I have no idea how
they play.
Thanks for the answers, guys.

The game DID NOT come with any overlay. The production of the overlay
was deemed too expensive to be able to (1)finance and (2)sell the
game.

I also bought one at the show and asked about it.

When I bought the game at CGE and opened the box, I too found no
overlay. When I inquired, I was told that no overlay was produced.
I've finally starting unpacking from CGE, and I tried Cube Quest.
Yow! Is it rough!! It's more like a beta version instead of a
finished product. The Vectrex-like instruction manual was very
detailed, but it also said that further development on the game stopped
in 1983.
It's not my idea of fun.

A further report tomorrow,
