It seems that there aren't as many web sites on the vectrex then there
are for Nintendo Intellivision, or Atari. Is it because the vectrex
wasn't as popular as the other systems or is there another reason? So
far i have only seen sprikes, chris's, wikipedia and classic gaming
having any info on the vectrex. I would think with the simplicity of
the programming games for the vectrex due to the bios, you would see
more vectrex games then Atari or Nintendo.

Sincerely,

Welcome to the newsgroup, Cell Wall Rebound!

The Vectrex had a quick rise and fall and was produced only few years (I
think late 1982- early 1984). Sales figures never had been very high, so the
Vectrex was never widely spread. I guess that's why there are not too many
people around programming new Vectrex games or supporting and collecting
Vectrex console and its games. The Vectrex is a very nice console and area
for Retro collectors, though.

A lot of sites are dead now, though....

It appears that there was a big push around 7 - 10 years ago, and
since then interest has faded somewhat. I just got mine, and the first
thing I did was order a 72 -1 multicart, Can't wait to get it and dive
in!

Now who wants to send me a scan of the controller overlay so I can fix
my controller that the previous owner butchered in his attempt to
open?

:)

Ah, yes. It was about 10 years ago that Spike's Page debuted. RGV was fairly
busy, but the Raven't Retro Nest was dormant, and besides that there was
just the official DVE site and John D's site. I remember producing some new
DVE overlays for Frogger and Andrew (from the Retro Nest) was too busy to
add them to his site, so I started my own site. Firstly, to house my own
overlays, and secondly, to make a one-stop Vectrex emulation resource.
Ironically, Spike's BIG Page was really, really small at first, but little
by little, it grew into its name :)...

Before too long, we were adding news items several times a week and sending
news of new games to all of the major classic gaming sites and newsgroups.
It was always my hope that with the 3D support of the emulators, that there
would be some more 3D homebrew games, but has yet to happen...

Anyway, it looks like things have slowed down a bit lately, but if all of
the major Vectrex sites push themselves to update as often as possible,
maybe there can be another Vectrex rennaissance...

Well, I'll do what I can :)...

Cool. At some point will they be playable on the emulators?

I've released a freeware rom of Vector 21
which includes a 3D demo.

I will release a freeware rom of Lord
of the Robots at some point.

3D Sector-X will be available for
purchase again in cartridge form
in the future, not going to be released
for emulation.
