HELLHOLE
http://www.furyunlimited.com/_sgg/m1m1_1.htm
Sector-X IV becomes a reality! Hellhole will be released on August 11th at the
Classic Gaming Expo in Las Vegas. Internet pre-orders will begin shipping on August 13th.

Many of you will remember that Hellhole was announced years ago on my website, and
subsequently canceled due to innovation fatigue ...until now!

As with all Sector-X sequels, Hellhole is unique in the series and works just as
well as a stand-alone game (more than ever). The primary connection to the previous
Sector-X games is thematic, with the titular character from Sectis returning. I've
sort of re-launched the series, and switched things up a bit here. You play
as Sectis! It's great to be able to continue the series without it being another
spaceship shooter. The game follows Continuum (Sector-X III), which ends with the
Overlord continuing through a vortex on a journey from Hell to Earth.

Hellhole is spinner compatible, working in conjunction with the new Vectrosis Spinner
Controller (see below)! Hellhole can be played with the spinner or standard joystick
controller. I recommend the full package because the spinner controller makes the
playing experience even more fun and realistic.

A number of people found out about the Hellhole project and have asked about pre-ordering,
which I only allow if everyone knows about it. So, with this email it's now open to
pre-ordering. I know that many of you have pre-ordered Warrior, so I understand if you would prefer
to wait for your Warrior game to arrive. Much like War of the Worlds and Sundance, Warrior
and Hellhole will have overlapping shipping schedules. Pre-ordering info is at the
bottom of this email.

THE VECTROSIS SPINNER
http://www.furyunlimited.com/_sgg/m1m1s1_1.htm
A newly manufactured spinner controller for your Vectrex console! The Vectrosis Spinner
comes in a handsome carrying case with the pack-in game Hellhole! More spinner games
planned for the future! A beautifully crafted, robust spinner controller that will take
your vector gaming adventures far into the beyond! The Vectrosis Controller is being jointly
released with Hellhole, debuting at CGE and begins shipping on August 13th.

90-day full warranty from shipment date + lifetime low-priced (flat-rate) repairs if needed!
You get a very cool carrying case that houses both the controller and game. This also includes
the standard game packaging that you get if purchasing Hellhole without the controller (the
labeled black box like most of my other games).

A quick note on spinner functionality with older Vectrex spinner games by other developers:
All of the older spinner games that I'm aware of required both controller ports, one for the
spinner and one for the buttons on the standard controller. The idea was that anyone could
pickup an Atari Driving Controller, plug it in, and start playing. True enough, but the big
problem was that players fumbled around trying to control the game with the spinner, while also
trying to press buttons on the other controller. Essentially, the only way to spin
while pressing buttons was to attach the two controllers into an abomination of sorts.
A rare photo was recently discovered that shows exactly what can happen:
http://www.angelfire.com/rant/bomber.../yoke_full.bmp

You will not be able to plug in an Atari Driving Controller to play Hellhole.
It won't work because the Vectrosis Spinner and button controls are together in one controller and plugged
into one controller port. I am not adding in functionality for the above described abomination.
You can play Hellhole with a standard controller as an alternative.

Thanks for posting about it. Here's the actual unedited email:

WARRIOR
http://www.furyunlimited.com/_sgg/m1_1.htm
Warrior is sold out! 150 games will ship out between July and August.
Thanks again to all who pre-ordered, especially considering the
delays!
I've added a couple of new screenshots to the website. I will post
a photo showing the box and overlay soon.

The release date of July 25th was removed from the site because
it will take me several weeks to ship all of the games, and I think
that any release date at this point is confusing in regards to the
shipping
schedule. Realistically, if you have Warrior #009, your game will ship
in
July. If you have #149, it will ship in August. It's a one-man
operation and
it will simply take me that long, shipping them out in order of serial
number.
And again, thanks for understanding!

There are no "buy now" buttons on my website for pre-orders,
primarily to avoid confusion with buyers who don't realize
that they are pre-ordering vs purchasing an item for immediate
shipment.

ADDITIONAL NOTES
-Warrior is sold out. I will not be selling Warrior at CGE.

-Tail Gunner has a new release date of 12-12-12.

-I, Cyborg II has not been canceled, but I have temporarily removed
the site page.

-Sector-X IV: The Legacy and Sector-X V: The War in Heaven have been
canceled
as I'm going in a new direction with the series. A new fifth game has
been planned.

-The Hellhole serial numbering system begins with the pre-orders. The
games sold
at CGE will be manufactured just prior to the show, and will have
serial numbers
that follow the pre-ordered games. This is done to benefit the
longtime supporters
of my Vectrex endeavors who simply can't make it to the show!

Thank you,
George

So is Hell Hole a tempest clone? That's about the only spinner vector game I can think of (except maybe Major Havoc). I read somewhere Hell Hole needs the 3D imager, am I wrong?

Honestly, I don't think any game that's
like Hellhole can claim full originality..
Serious nods to Tempest and Web Wars,
but not a clone of either.

Missed this question. That is incorrect.
Hellhole was announced over 5 years
ago on my site as an upcoming 3D Imager
game. This was prior to 3D Sector-X. I canceled
3D Hellhole because it is a high-speed game
and was running too slowly with the Imager.
The new Hellhole is a spinner game (the original
was not) and is not a 3D Imager game.

In the original you were a cherub trying to escape
hell. Sectis has replaced the cherub and the themes
fit perfectly into the current Sector-X game series. I
was able to re-work the cherub sprites, converting the
character into an enemy, but aside from that I've
almost completely re-written the game. My
programming style and design skills have changed
since working on the original version, so a re-write
was needed.

This looks very exciting! Can't wait to get it!

Also, just wondering - is the original 3D Sector-X still available (I just got a 3d imager...) or is it available to purchase in binary form?

Thanks, yes building them myself.
The clear case is a cool off-the-shelf part.

3D Sector-X is still sold by GoodDealGames (see
http://gooddealgames.com/inventory/Vectrex.html). Not the cheapest price,
though. Alternatively you might ask here in the forum or wait a bit; I'm
sure the game will show up on ebay one day.
