Well, I see the newsgroup is free from the prospect of me running RQ 68.

Stephen Perry:

Hmm, I should know this, but I can't place him. Never followed the show.

I'll assume the reading where that means "at least 67", and say Texas.

Milk! I learned that from a Canadian Inquisition game not so long ago.

I've seen the number -273.16 sometimes. Seems that is likely to have been
a confusition with the definition which is against the triple point of
water. Which is at 1cC.

Still wondering where Stephen has hidden Scott McKenzie in the quiz...

It appears to me that the standard requires the spelling "1 cC"
for the symbolic form of "one centidegree Celsius".

This was a tough one! On the bright side, the chance I'll have to

Having looked up the answers, I'd say that the only way anyone would
score on the intended question would be to ask themslves "For what
state is it likely to be true that it has 67 counties *and* Stephen
Perry knows it?"

well, I am well traveled too. I knew alabama, florida, and my adopted home state of pennsylvania before setting the question. it was part of a theme I couldn't finish centered around the RQ #.

And how difficult would that be? :-) I'm a little surprised that no one
else has tried that guess yet. (And John Masters spotted Florida.)

But I goofed seriously on E67. Since E45 and E47 runs through Sweden,
I figured E67 much be quite to the east, but I forgot that the last
stretch of E65 runs throgh the south of Sweden. A little complication
here is that Sweden has not fully implemented the new numbering system,
but what possibly should have been E55 is still numbered as E4 throughout
Sweden. Not that it is likely that I would have found the correct answer,
but at least I could have made a better guess.

I was tempted to answer Fredricia, a city on the old E67 which, if memory
serves was a very short route in Denmark - something like 20-30 km
connecting E6 and E66.

By the way, having looked up the new E67 and having looked at the
answer, I think Stephen has a small scoring problem on this one too. To
wit, Via Baltica is only a subset of E67...

I guessed my answer. It's correct for E67 but incorrect for Via
Baltica. I'll accept SWP's judgment on the matter.

I am going back to watching Olympic soccer. yes, I am a junkie for this. I recommend all of you watch the games of the XXX Olympiad, held in London starting tomorrow and running through august 12th. there isn't a single event that isn't worth watching, these kids are really giving it their all.

of course, that totals line should read:
Totals 4 2 5 1 11 7 8 6 9 0 1 54

I missed setting a question that 3 of you got right (which I thought would be q4), and other that 10 of you correctly answered. but this is as close to perfect as I've come, so I'm happy with it.

no more questions about us naval ships, I think.

Well I do have a correction, but it goes the other way. You gave me
credit for #6, but I didn't answer it correctly.

Who's that young man, you're talking to?
Anyway: Thank you very much. :-)

I'll give my best.

Personally, I think you have no reason to ask for apologies. I never
read the question as anything else (nor did I read the judo question
differently). "Exactly" would of course be better, but leaving it out
is far less serious than leaving out "contiguous" when talking about
"US mainland".

E67: Prague - Helsinki
Via Baltica: Warsaw - Tallinn

If any of the Swedish handball teams makes it to the semi-finals I
may watch. Else I don't expect to waste much time on the Olympics.

Not every... Emerson F drank OJ (but later apologized for his
"transgression")

Not from me. I don't feel I really earned the point for Texas. :-)

No such thing in a quiz, as folks suspect a trap when a question seems too
easy.

Especially if one doesn't realise 1 isn't a prime.

I counted primes on my fingers. I think I had to count three times before
I got 67 as the 19th prime. (I think I overlooked 53 for some reason.)
