These questions were written to be asked in Toronto on 2020-01-20,
and should be interpreted accordingly.

On each question you may give up to two answers, but if you give
both a right answer and a wrong answer, there is a small penalty.
Please post all your answers to the newsgroup in a single followup,
based only on your own knowledge. (In your answer posting, quote
the questions and place your answer below each one.) I will reveal
the correct answers in about 3 days.

All questions were written by members of MI5 and are used here by
permission, but have been reformatted and may have been retyped
and/or edited by me. For further information see my 2019-10-16
companion posting on "Questions from the Canadian Inquisition
(QFTCI*)".

* Game 2, Round 7 - Entertainment - Change One Letter in the Title

Change just one letter in the title of a real TV series to come up
with the title of its entirely imaginary spinoff. For example,
if we said, "Don Draper and Roger Sterling take an interest in
cartography", lbh'q nafjre "Znc Zra" (punatvat bar yrggre va gur
erny GI frevrf "Znq Zra"). Or if we said "Nucky Johnson takes
a new job on the baseball field", lbh'q guvax bs gur erny frevrf
"Obneqjnyx Rzcver", naq nafjre "Obneqjnyx Hzcver".

We won't be offended if we hear groans. (In fact, the two examples
above have been rot13'd for extra groan value.)

1. Environmentally focused Toronto City Councillor moves to Pawnee.
2. Daryl Dixon vs. hard-of-hearing zombies.
3. Idris Elba opens a hairdressing salon.
4. Latino motorcycle gang travels back in time.
5. The Pearson family visit an ancient city in Sumeria.
6. Meghan Markle regularly gets into a huff.
7. Andy Sipowicz's vision isn't great at the shooting range.
8. Queen Elizabeth subtly shows her displeasure with Prince Philip.
9. A trio of 1960s fishermen in St. John's -- one black, one white,
one blonde.
10. The survivors of a plane crash can't keep their hands off
each other.

* Game 2, Round 8 - Miscellaneous - Sports Trophies are Not Always Hardware

Lots of pro athletes seem to have gorgeous and successful WAGs
(wives and girlfriends). Here's a round about some of those
athletes and WAGs. (And no, this is not the sports round, nor
is there a handout.)

In all cases surnames or single-word stage names will suffice.
Facts given in the present tense are as of the original game date.

1. In 2010, this singer released "Waka Waka", the official theme
song for that year's FIFA World Cup. While filming the song's
music video, she met Gerard Pique, a Spanish center-back for the
Catalonia national team and FC Barcelona. She is 10 years older
than he is and they have two children together. Who is she?

2. Former Nashville Predator Mike Fisher is married to a very
successful singer, whose hit song "Before He Cheats" is a stark
warning to any man thinking about being unfaithful. Who is she?

3. Khloe Kardashian likes basketball players. She was married to
former L.A. Laker Lamar Odom, and she also shares daughter True
with -- which philandering Cleveland Cavalier?

4. Wayne Gretzky's daughter Paulina married a PGA superstar who
was ranked #1 in the world for 64 weeks beginning in February
2017. Who is he?

5. Mike Tindall is a former English Rugby Union player who played
for Bath and Gloucester, and was a member of the 2003 World
Cup team. His wife is from a very famous family and is an
equestrian and Olympian. What was her maiden name?

6. Seattle Seahawks QB Russell Wilson married this R&B singer
in 2016. She has had 8 top-10 Billboard singles and has sold
over 23,000,000 records worldwide. She is a global ambassador
for cosmetics giant Revlon. Who is she?

7. Jemima Goldsmith, daughter of wealthy British financier Sir
James Goldsmith, was married to this international cricketer
and captain of the 1992 Cricket-World-Cup-winning Pakistan
national team from 1995 to 2004. He is the current Prime
Minister of Pakistan. What's his name?

8. Gabrielle Union is a successful American actress, starring in
the TV series "Being Mary Jane" and acting as a judge on
"America's Got Talent" in 2019. Her husband played in the NBA
for 16 years, most of those with the Miami Heat. Who is he?

9. This woman is one of the highest-profile WAGs in the UK. She has
been embroiled in a feud with the wife of Leicester striker
Jamie Vardy, accusing her of leaking private Instagram photos
to The Sun. Her husband is a soccer forward who played 4 years
with Everton and 13 with Manchester United before returning
for one more year with Everton. Who is the wife?

10. David Beckham married pop star "Posh Spice" of the Spice Girls
in 1999. They have four children together and she has become
an internationally recognized style icon and fashion designer.
What was her maiden name?

I will score this as two guesses, "Mrs. Wayne Rooney" and
a Paula (a surname).

"Snits" (from "Suits"). I scored "Sh!ts" as almost correct,
as I think a huff is more like a snit. 4 for Dan Blum, Stephen,
and Joshua. 3 for Calvin.

"The Cod Squad" (from "The Mod Squad"). I scored "The Mod Squid"
as almost correct. 4 for Stephen. 3 for Joshua.

The alternative answer of "The Mod Squid" is not quite as good,
because while there is some commercial fishing of squid in
Newfoundland, it's not nearly as important as cod fishing is.

In the original game, in my game this question went to team and one
my teammates likelyse came up with "The Mod Squid". I talked him
out of it, so we got the point, but the QM was highly amused.

It may be noted that the show "The Mod Squad" had *two* whites in
the title squad -- the blonde woman and a man. Nevertheless the
tagline was as quoted.

"Lust" (from "Lost"). 4 for Dan Blum, Stephen, Joshua, and Calvin.
