I'll save some of you the trouble of looking that up: a chandler is
someone who makes or sells candles, soap, oils, and paints. You can
impress the object of your affection by dropping that tidbit of
knowledge the next time you get dragged into a Yankee Candle (how in
the world does that store stay in business anyway? It must be a
money-laundering front ;-).

TOPEKA

Quilt answer: BOBCAT, first letters down.

I get the carnivore and Goldthwait reference -- not the cop or chandler connection.

TOPEKA is the one I'm choosing because it works for the quilt.

OTIS
BUNYAN
CALORIE
ALLEY
TOPEKA

I'm not sure how "Chandler" fits in here, but BOBCAT works as the
quilt answer for both "Carnivore" and "Comic Cop," and it's in the
first column reading downward.

Quilt solution: BOBCAT (A Bobcat is another name for a wild
cat, a comedian "Goldthwait", but I'm not sure what the "Chandler"
reference is, unless it's a reference to another brand of small
frontloaders.
