These questions were written to be asked in Toronto on 2003-02-10,
and should be interpreted accordingly. All questions were written
by members of the Usual Suspects, but have been reformatted and
may have been retyped and/or edited by me. I will reveal the
correct answers in about 3 days.

For further information, including an explanation of the """
notation that may appear in these rounds, see my 2020-06-23
companion posting on "Reposted Questions from the Canadian
Inquisition (RQFTCI*)".

I did not write these rounds.

* Game 4, Round 4 - Science - Herbs

This round refers to the handout at:

http://www.eskimo.com/~scs/msb/o4/4/herbs.pdf

I have sorted the round in order of the handout. There were 6
decoys, which are now interspersed with the others; answer the
decoys if you like for fun, but for no points.

*This is a bonus round.*

Each question asks you to identify a herb. In some cases this
means any of a number of related plants normally grouped under the
same generic name, which is what we expect you to give. For each
question, you are given the picture number and some additional
information in rot13. This information will mostly be about
current and/or traditional uses for the herb in question.

On each question you have the choice of whether or not to decipher
the rot13 text before giving your first answer, and *IF YOU DID
NOT*, you must tell me this by including a $ sign with your answer.
If you give two answers, feel free to decipher the rot13 before
choosing the second one.

If you identify the herb correctly on your first or only try *and*
do it without deciphering the rot13 text for that question, then
you get a 2-point bonus for a total of 6 (only one answer given)
or 5 (first of two). If you decipher the rot13, a correct answer
is worth the usual score of 4 (only one answer given, or two
answers both correct), 3 (first of two), or 2 (second of two).
The bonus is not available on your second answer.

To repeat, please put a $ sign before or after your first or only
answer if you *DID NOT* decipher the rot13 before settling on
it -- that is, put a $ sign if you *ARE TRYING* for the bonus.
So your answers should look like one of these four forms:

- Dog$ (for 6 or 0)
- Dog$, cat (for 5, 2, or 0)
- Dog (for 4 or 0)
- Dog, cat (for 3, 2, or 0, or 4 if both are correct)

To repeat, on any question, if you are trying for the bonus, DO
NOT decode the rot13 and DO put a $ with your first or only answer.

* Game 4, Round 6 - Sports - Multi-Sport Athletes

Where a team is asked for, we need the team's name, not the city.
For example, "Argonauts", not "Toronto".

1. Bo Jackson was a starter for both the NFL's Los Angeles Raiders
and a Major League Baseball team in 1988 and 1989. Name the
baseball team.

2. Lionel Conacher won football's Grey Cup with the Toronto
Argonauts. Name either of the Stanley-Cup-winning hockey teams
he also played on.

3. Which athlete won gold medals in both decathlon and pentathlon
at the 1912 Stockholm Olympics?

4. Clara Hughes captured a bronze medal in speed skating in Salt
Lake City. She also won two bronze medals at the Summer Olympics
in Atlanta in which sport?

5. This athlete wore #21 for both football's Atlanta Falcons and
baseball's New York Yankees, as well as other teams.

6. Michael Jordan wore which number for both the Birmingham Barons
baseball team, and for the Chicago Bulls at the start of his
first basketball comeback?

7. Ian Leggatt -- originally from Galt, now part of Cambridge,
Ontario -- was a champion speed skater in his youth, but is
better known as a professional athlete in which sport?

8. Who did the Associated Press vote Female Athlete of the Year
"""6 times: once for track and 5 more times for golf"""?

9. Stephanie Cook of Great Britain won the first women's gold
medal in this multidisciplinary event at the 2000 Summer
Olympics.

10. Myriam Bedard was the first North American to win an Olympic
gold medal in biathlon. Biathlon combines which two sports?

> * Game 4, Round 4 - Science - Herbs

> This round refers to the handout at:

Nobody give correct answers on any of the decoys, but one entrant
tried answering one of them with "basil$". Since the decoys had
no clues, that doesn't make sense I don't know what that was a
mistake for, but basil wasn't a correct answer on any question in
the round anyway.
