There's now a full spoiler on www.shadowfist.com - grieve for Otto's
bleeding fingertips. Unfortunately it's in a clunky PDF format and
there's no separate checklist yet. And I don't entirely trust it
because, for example, it doesn't have the same tag for Smart Gun as
the printed card. But, FWIW, I have hacked this into a useful format
now and made a checklist so that I could tick off my cards before they
diappear into decks. Note that there are three promos which will
presumably not be found in boosters.

Thanks for that note of sympathy, Andrew. ;-)

My question is, would people still be interested in a complete version
of the spolier list I posted before? I was considering reposting parts 1
& 2 (Rares and Uncommons) with the cards I missed before. (I happen to
think that the text version is much more useful than the 2-3
cards-per-page PDF.)

Note that the fair use policy on the Shadowfist site
explicitly forbids redistribution of the card lists from
their site. Typing up the list yourself does have
advantages.

From the Fair Use page
(http://www.shadowfist.com/news_legal_use.htm):
"You may not retransmit, repost and/or republish any
article, spoiler list, card list, rarity list, rule
book, FAQ, etc., from the Shadowfist.com or
Innocence.com: Shadowfist domains without express
permission."

On the other hand, they still own the intellectual property
itself. The legality of redistributing your list is another
issue entirely... though the rest of the fair use policy
seems to allow it.

I'd be interested in the list. I'm sure there are others.
You might ask Will Wagner if he is interested in the info.
He maintains the Card Search Database.

My ultimate goal is a database format file which accurately reflects
the printed cards. I've turned their PDF into a text file with a
uniform layout but I've yet to reverse-engineer this into a database
format and then integrate it with my current database. Your file
wouldn't be any help unless there was a way of reconciling it to
discover differences. But feel free to post it anyway - this
newsgroup is hardly overloaded.

Please, if your fingers can stand the abuse, I would be very pleased to see
more.

There are good programmer's tools for doing this sort of thing.
I'm not an expert, but posting something in plaintext with uniform
layout (or even reasonably useful separators like Cost, Resources,
Text, Flavor text) would help me transform that into, for instance,
a comma-separated flat file suitable for importing into
Excel or Filemaker Pro or one of the free Unix databases.
I could even replace the <> designator markers with HTML tags
to present proper formatting in html. Randall Gee's Daedalus ASCII
files are another possibility.
I can run Sixten Otto's spoilers through a similar script, then
use diff or ediff to give discrepencies.

As Tony Hafner points out, a strict interpretation of the fair use policy on
Shadowfist.com would seem to prohibit this sort of thing. This is the other
reason (besides the inconvenience of their PDF) that I would even bother
finishing my list.

I have a list I did at work today I will post it tomorrow. It is already in
format, divided into Commons, Uncommons and Rares with a space at the
beginning of each slot so you can write in your current card total. I have
all the card lists in this format if people are interested.

We will most likely reverse this policy. It was a holdover form way back when
the original site was created. I am still asking around to see what legal
repurcussions can occur if we allow such wanton :) spread of thel ists. I feel
it is a good thing, but there might be a very legal reason to protect Z-Man
Games why it's not.

In the meantime you have my express permission, Otto, to finish the list and
post it. Anyone else want to - email me privately and I'll say yea until I find
out the legal aspects of doing so.

I very much appreciate that! It turns out that from the two boxes Tom
and I opened, we were only short 9 cards from the whole set, but the
official list will be helpful in filling in those gaps.

(I also humbly point out that Otto is my last name... :-)
