Aliens vs. Predator
Aliens vs. Predator allows you to assume any of three roles. The
“breeding” Aliens, the “honourable sporting Predator or the
“resourceful” human Marines, who will be the last left standing.
There will be two sealed deck and two open tournaments at
Phantastacon X. One of each on each day.
Tournament Scenario rules are:
Each round will be played one-on-one. Every player should bring
two decks to a tournament, of two different species. Players may
have to alternate between decks, to ensure like species do not
meet in battle. AP tournaments are played in two-player rounds.
Players compete in a set number of Swiss style preliminary
rounds (minimum 4), after which a predetermined number of
semi-finalists are chosen. Semi-finals and final rounds are played
in single elimination rounds. All contestants must register the
exact type and number of cards used in their decks before the first
round of preliminary competition.
Starting Hands: Cards in the starting hands do NOT count against
limitations in the deck. The Alien Player will start with a
Breeding Chamber, an adjacent Hive location, a Queen, 3 Alien
Warrior character cards, and an Alien Warrior token on the
Breeding Chamber. The Marines Player will start with the
starting hand described in the Contact scenario in the rule book.
The Predator Player may choose not to start with the Mask or the
Melee Claws. No other weapons may be chosen to start in play,
however. Otherwise, the Predator Player will play with the same
starting hand as in the Contact scenario in the rule book.
Standard rules except for: 1) There must be at least 4 total
Supporting Characters in a deck. Additionally, there must be at
least 3 different types of Supporting Characters in the deck. 2)
There must be at least 6 total Locations in a deck. Additionally,
there must be at least 4 different types of Locations in the deck.
One of these locations must be Operations. These limitations do
NOT include starting locations. 3) The UA 571C Sentry Gun,
Display of Skill, Hand Welder and Hull Breach are all considered
unique for purposes of deck-building.
The same guidelines as for the Contact scenario will be followed,
with the following additions. 1) The species will act in Marines,
Predator, Alien (MPA) order, rather than MAP. This order is
used for any order of play or timing disputes. 2) Display of Skill
may never reduce the Predator's honour requirement below 8. 3)
A Predator character may only have a total of 29 Honour points
of equipment in its possession at any one time. If a Predator loses
an item in any way, it is free to search normally to replace the
item. Honour must still be paid for ALL items the Predator uses
to achieve a complete victory. The Outcast Predator is considered
to have an Honour of 12 for this purpose. 4) Marines may only
benefit from one Leader at a time. A Marine player may still
include multiple Leaders in their starting hand, but will only have
a maximum hand size of 5.
Victory: Marines: Complete Victory - Rescue 5 Supporting
Characters, and at least one Marine Main Character. Partial
Victory - Kill all opposing Main Characters. Predators, not
Outcast: Complete Victory - Achieve the appropriate Honour
requirement, and evacuate. This Honour requirement can NEVER
be reduced to less than 8, even when playing Eager Youth, or
with the use of Display of Skill. Partial Victory - Kill all
opposing Main Characters. Outcast Predator: Complete Victory -
Kill all opposing Main Characters. Partial victories are only
accomplished through ties. Aliens: Complete Victory - Hive all
Locations in play, or kill all opposing Main Characters. Partial
victories are only accomplished through ties.
Secondary Score: At the end of each round, the players must also
report a secondary score to the judges. The secondary score is
determined by the race played. Alien: Add the total number of
Supporting Characters brought into play. Marine: Add the total
number of Supporting Characters brought into play. Predator:
Add the total number of characters (Main or Supporting) killed.
This value is added to the previous total secondary score from
other rounds. The value has no impact on the tournament, unless
ties must be broken in determining semi-finalists.
Semi-finals: Semi-finals are resolved in single elimination
rounds, with contestants initially paired according to their scores
in the preliminaries. Only one game will be played between
contestants. A partial victory is sufficient to advance to the next
round in semi-finals. The winner of the final two-player round is
the tournament champion.
Scoring in preliminaries
Loss: 0 points. Partial victory: 1 pt Complete victory (including
byes): 2 points. Ties: Legal ties are considered partial victories
for both players.
Timing out
Time Limit: Rounds are limited to 35 minutes each. If neither
player has achieved a complete victory by the end of the time
limit, each player receives a partial victory. There are never time
limits in semi-final or final rounds, with the exception of
tie-breaking rounds to qualify for the semi-finals.
For the starter deck tournament, you get 1 starter (random) and
two boosters. The human player can add 5 supporting characters
from outside the game to their deck. The Alien player may add
one breeding token and a hive chamber. The Predator may add
one item up to an honour value of 4. Each tournament is 3 player
game, Swiss style. Standard rules & FAQ’s. Victory conditions
are based on accomplishment level when the game ends, plus
points for position. The game ends when on player achieves their
victory conditions or one player is eliminated. Points are scored
for each game played, based on the secondary score system,
described in the open tournament rules section, plus 1 point for
each player defeated (2). An eliminated player loses 1 point.
Time limit per game is 60 minutes. After 3 qualifying rounds, the
top 3 players of each race play off in a final round. Again, this is
scored as above.
Prizes include certificates, stock, books and rare promo cards
(Conestoga Class and Battle Standard). In addition to the
regular prizes, bonus prizes will be awarded for the first player to
complete these objectives during a tournament:
1. Human: Kill the Alien Queen.
2. Predator: Kill every supporting character played by all players.
3. Kill the Predator, with an Predator hybrid and chest burster in
hand at the time.

Babylon 5
Babylon 5 is the last best hope for peace in the Universe. Each
player represents a race in the struggle for galactic supremacy.
Each race has their own agenda, whether it be peace, military
conquest, diplomatic or psychic subterfuge. However, depending
who controls the race (player) any option is available to each
race.
There will be four Babylon 5 tournaments, two sealed deck’s and
two open’s. Standard rules (Deluxe edition version) and FAQ's
apply. Players may have a sideboard reserve of 20 cards, which
they can use to modify their decks between rounds. Deck
minimum is 45 cards. Maximum of 3 of any cards. There will be
3 qualifying rounds of 3 or 4 players, with the highest scoring
players of each race going into a final round. Each round will
have a 60 minutes time limit. Each player receives a base score
equal to their final power when the games ends. If the game has
an outright winner (20pts), then each player receives a bonus of 3
points to their score. Winner or highest scorer gains a 5 pt bonus,
2nd gets 2 and third gets 1pt. The winner of the game also awards
2 points to any other player/s of their choice. If the victory is by
Major Agenda the winner scores 2 bonus points and can award
an extra point to another player/s. Everyone carries their base
score into the next qualifying game. The highest scoring player of
each race after the qualifying rounds, goes into the final. All
previous scores are ignored and all players start again at base
zero. The top two players of each race receive prizes.
Babylon 5 Errata.
1.Psi Attack can not target an ambassador.
2.Lovell should not say that he can be attacked by other
characters when he attacks, instead it should say that Lovell is
discarded when he makes this attack.
3.Sleeping Z'Ha'Dum: Is now reworded:
"Location's Military may only be used to oppose conflicts
targeting this location. Any player may rotate Sleeping Z'Ha'Dum
to give the Shadows +1 influence when a card providing or
requiring Shadow marks is played. Your ambassador gains a
Doom Mark. Sleeping Z'ha'dum must rotate to increase Shadow
Influence (in addition to other requirements).
4.As It Was Meant To Be is now a Major Agenda.
5.Any card which gives a generic bonus to abilities does not
affect Psi.
6.Border Raid: Initiator and Target may only rotate ONE card to
participate in this conflict, and it must be a fleet. Level the
Playing Field will NOT help this conflict. (Leaders may still lead
the fleets, and thus become extra participants.) Support fleets are
allowed to boost the one partipicating fleet.
7.Sustaining can only be done if:
a. There was no cost for the action to be sustained other than
rotating the card in question.
b. All necessary requirements for the initiator and the target are
still fulfilled.
c. The action being sustained increases an ability of a character or
fleet. Also, there is no end of turn gap in the effect. Any ability
that is being aided is continuously aided, even if the card
providing the aid has the phrase "until the end of the turn" on it.
8.The term "replacing" used in reference to agendas is completely
unrelated to replacing characters, which is the definition in the
Glossary. Replaced agendas DO NOT leave play. When replacing
an agenda, put the new agenda into play from your hand (while
rotating an inner circle character), and remove the old agenda to
the discard pile. If a Limited character is replaced, NO copy of
that character may come in to play ever again (treat the character
as if it had become Unique).
If a Multiple character is replaced, that copy leaves play, but no
other copy of the card is affected. (there are no examples of this
currently, but just in case...).
Races for Sealed Deck tournaments will be randomly determined.
Sealed deck consists of one starter and two boosters (Deluxe or
Shadow boosters for the Saturday and Great War boosters for
Sunday). For the open tournament, each player is required to
bring a minimum of three alliance races, as all four player games
must include one of each race. (Players that do not have three
decks, can not score bonus points). Each player will only play
one race for the duration of each tournament.
Zeta Squadron members gain a world ranking. (You may join
Zeta Squadron at the convention). Prizes include: certificates,
cards boxes and card packets, promo cards and for any

valued over $400.00. In addition to the regular prizes, bonus

YAPBM - The L5R PBM
For those of you who have managed to squeeze into the limited
playing field of this neat PBM, there will be a YAPBM meeting
of players at Phantastacon XII. This informal gathering will
represent players’ characters (Diplomats, Magistrates, Samuari or
Shugenja) that are attending one of the many marketplaces or
various holdings in Rokugan. These characters need not be the
actual characters you have in the PBM. However, they will be
able to interact, meet and react with other characters from the
various clans. The informality of the gathering means that during
the course of the convention (Saturday and Sunday), you can
interact as one of your clansmen. You can make deals, treaties,
challenge ratbags to duels, whatever takes your fancy and it
“counts” in the PBM.
Demonstration/Social Games
Most starter deck tournaments at Phantastacon X are also
demonstration games, designed to teach new player. In addition,
other demonstration games will be held throughout the
