the fact that Chess is a game that is not based on chance and Magic is. Two
very different things. Magic is not the new Chess. And as far as Chess and
Magic, I do not lose "too often", whatever that means, because I don't play
them because I lose almost all the time. Chess, because it is an acquired
skill that I really respect but don't have the time to learn. (Not saying
that I'd win any more often if I did. Some of my employees are amazing at
it.) And Magic, just got tired of buying cards. It's just not a casual
game.
But, the main thing is that in Chess, it is one mind against another. All
possibilities are finite and you always know the status, which your opponent
does too. In Magic, it is by chance what your opponent has and what you
have. It is not equal, either. That's not bad at all, but very different.
To say that Magic is the new Chess, is ignorant.
But, alas, you sound like that guy at EB... ignorant about Chess.
