The musical debuted in 2012 at the Palais des Sports in Paris and was a commercial success, with several of its songs being released as singles, and a cast album which was successful in the French music charts. It follows Ronan Mazurier, a young peasant who, after swearing to avenge the death of his father, leaves his home to go to Paris and join the republican revolutionaries there. While in Paris, Ronan meets Olympe du Puget - governess of the royal children - and the two, despite being from different sides of the conflict, fall in love. They are what gives the musical its title - Ronan and Olympe are the amants de la Bastille (lovers of the Bastille). It is notable for its contemporary soundtrack and choreography, and won Best Musical at the Crystal Globes in 2013.</div><div></div><div></div><div>Peu de temps après, un premier membre de la troupe de 1789 s'est exprimé sur Twitter. Although the catalyst for the attack was the dismissal of popular Genevan commoner Jacques Necker (1732-1804) from the ministry of King Louis XVI of France (r. 1774-1792), societal imbalances and financial hardships had been pressuring the French people for years. The perceived efforts of the king to undo the work of the Estates-General of 1789, which had resulted in the formation of a National Assembly dominated by members of the Third Estate, combined with rising bread prices to send the people of Paris into a panic, causing them to lash out against symbols of royal authority, including the ever-looming Bastille.</div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div>Desmoulins Making a Call to Arms, 12 July 1789by Pierre-Gabriel Berthault (Public Domain)" context":" "," id":" -making-a-call-to-arms-12-july-1789/#imageobject"," type":"ImageObject","acquireLicensePage":" -making-a-call-to-arms-12-july-1789/","caption":"Depiction of Camille Desmoulins' call to arms at the Palais-Royal in the days preceding the Storming of the Bastille. We will meet the characters who marked this period such as Danton, Camille Desmoulins, or Jacques Necker the austere minister of the King. We will follow them in the twists and turns that will precede July 14, 1789. It is on this date in the Bastille that the Revolution will forever seal their destiny but will also mark the emergence of a new world.</div><div></div><div> dd2b598166</div>
