Just came into possession of a stack of Horseshoe Crab.

Besides always being handy to block, what other goodies does its special
ability (U: Untap ~.) provide for?

Of course, my first thought was Hermetic Study... mine and a million other
folks', I'm sure.

Anything more exciting?

Opposition is another card it works well with.

Shoving Match is similar to Opposition, but is an instant and provides the
ability to your opponent as well.

Opposition, eh? That's a particularly nasty one.

Let's see, looking thru the card spoiler lists, there's also:

- Kyren Negotiations (MM) burn
- Archery Training (UD) combat burn
- Field Surgeon (UD) healing
- Fire Whip (WL) burn
- Llanowar Behemoth (WL) pumpable
- Samite Blessing (SH) healing
- Volrath's Gardens (SH) life
- Earthcraft (TE) untap basic land
- Veteran's Voice (AL) pump other creatures
- Unerring Sling (MI) flyer burn
- Cocoon (LE/CH) eliminate this card's downtime

And we already had:

- Opposition (UD) shutdown opponent
- Hermetic Study (US) burn

What other creatures would go in a deck that uses some of these
combos? (Morphling, certainly. Maybe Vigilant Drake. How about
Norritt? Blizzard Elemental?)

Add also:
Keldon Battlewagon (Prophecy) pumpable
Citanul Heirphants (US) mana production (conversion)

These grant abilities to all creatures for one turn:
Shoving Match (MM) tap other creatures
Brawl (MM) burn

It can survive:
Torrent of Lava (MI)

hello!!!!

CHARISMA!!!!!
(Charisma BBB
enchant crature
whenever enchanted creature deals damage to a creature, you gain
control of that creature

crab+study+charisma= very good chance of a win

Add a Nature's Revolt if you're feeling especially evil.

UUU, actually. B = 1 black mana, U = 1 blue mana and similarly for G and
green, R and red, and W and white.

As long as you can target their creatures. A deck with massive Blastoderm
beatdown wouldn't be affected (if you could get this out quickly enough to
avoid dying from the 'derms.)

heh... Splash white and do academy rector, treachery or confiscate, and high
market... if you are serious about taking blastoderm and morphling to the
dark side that is.

That's not the original Enchantress deck. My friend has a _nasty_ (very
T1, and possible illegal even there) one with Fastbond, Timetwister, Zuran
Orb and Dark Heart of the Wood, and the like.

Thank you for not typing 'infinite' ;)

Ok. You -could- use a crab with this, if Earthcraft
wasn't banned in both Type II (when it was in), and
Extended because of its prescence in the original
Enchantress deck, where the end kill would involve a
Crab and Earthcraft, together with one land that could
generate at least one blue and some other colour.

(ie. "an arbitrarily large amount of mana")

Awakening has always, locally, been a good combo with the Hermitic-Crab. In
multiplayer games it is especially brutal, to the point where the
Hermetic-Crab's controller killed each player on their turn with the crab...
...except for the fellow with the Urza's Armor on. "Bad crab!"

Horseshoe Crab and Opposition would be brutal. It would translate to
U: tap target land, creature or artifact. Ugly.

The addition of Cowardice is also brutal.
U: return target creature to owners hand.

However you are getting into 3 card combo's which are harder to pull off.
Depending on the environment the you can play 4 Crabs, 4 Morphlings, 4 Fire
Whip and 4 Hermetic Study which gives you a good solid change of drawing what
you need. Some countermagic to back it up and some removal, capsizes perhaps,
and this would be a basis for a brutal deck. Good luck getting the morphlings
though.
I guess they are out though, price'll drop.

OK, Now if I submit a list of a few cards that could combo, wouldn't there be
a possibility to have a multiple strategies deck ?
Deck based on tapping the opponent creatures and continuing to attack.
To get rid of the blastoderms, use a meekstone. (VIth Edition, so I reckon
that's allowed)

I would consider the following to be key cards of a possible deck based on
that :
Fyndhorn Brownie (I can untap my big creatures).
Horseshoe Crab
Opposition
Meekstone
Charisma.

Of course that would make a two colours deck, so far, just because of the
Brownies. Any U replacement for those ? Big creatures can easily be found in
green or blue (Force of nature, Leviathan, Skyshroud Behemoth, ... ).
Converting lands in creatures would also help, if you can pump or have your
opponent pump them just above that 2 power limit...

Hello people from the past.
Combo Horseshoe Crab with Earthcraft and Fertile Ground. Infinite mana.
Then throw in a Hermetic Study for infinite damage & a Capsize for some fun.
