It depends on the deck design, my current type I deck is a weissman
school deck and I use the cane since I the last thing I want to do is
give my opponent 7 more cards.

Well, it's out of print, it's cool, it's rare, and it's restricted, so that's a
lot of it. When you have a fair amount of mana already out, it changes the mana
ratio of your deck when you reshuffle your graveyard, so you have more chances
of getting non-mana. And, most of the time, everything in your graveyard is
there because you could cast it and it was useful, or it was good enough that
your opponent countered or destroyed it. It helps a lot more than you'd think
to be able to reshuffle your graveyard. Of course, you can get the infinite
turn combo going with Time Walk, Timetwister, and Regrowth if you can go through
your deck. Personally, I still think it's a little overrated. I think
Ancestral is better than it or Time Walk (it doesn't win the game for you, but
it's ALWAYS useful- if you've got a good deck, Ancestral is often worth it when
you've got Underworld Dreams and a Vise on you). I don't think Timetwister
deserves to be ranked with the 'Power 9'.

I know this is off of the subject of your original question, but the entire
deck was based around removing my opponent's deck from the game. It had the
basics, Ashes to Ashes/Dust to Dust, StP, Tormod's Crypt, the recycling
engine, and a fun combo: Armageddon/Mana Flare/Pyramids. I actually based
it off of one of the original game designer's deck mentioned in the first
pocket handbook. Well, thanks for indulging me in a bit of reminiscing.

No 'catch-phrase' is catchy enough for this space.

I think the biggest advantage of the timetwister is that it recycles the
"big" cards back to your deck. Cards like timewalk , and ancestral
recall go back into your deck also the demonic tutor also goes back in.
This doesn't sound like too much of an advantage but I was in a
tournament last tuesday and the guy I was playing mangaged to take 14
turns to my 7 and managed to hit me with 45 points of red firepower!
(whew thank goodness for fountains of youth, ivory towers and zuran orb!)
How did he take twice as many turns as you?
