No.

6th edition is the basic set that you must base your deck on. However you
can use cards from all of the Rath cycle expansions (Tempest, Exodus,
Stronghold) and also from all the Urza's expansions (Urza's - saga, legacy,
destiny).

This lasts until the next standalone expansion comes out in about three
months when the Rath cycle block of cards rotates out and you would be left
with 6th edition, the Urza's expansions and the new set (which I forget the
name of off the top of my head).
