what is the converted mana cost of an X spell?
eg
if i use the ability of Volrath the fallen, which is : 1B, discard a
creature card: Volrath the fallen gets +X/+X until end of turn, where X is
the converted mana cost of the creature spell, what will be X when i discard
Karallin
which casting cost is XGG?

The converted mana cost is the total amount of mana, converted to colorless
mana. So it is always a integer number. e.g. if a spell costs 1G, it's
converted mana cost is 2, if it costs BGRUW, it's converted mana cost is 5.
If a X is listed in the casting cost, that X is only non-zero when you cast
it, if you use it in any other way, threat is like 0.

When figuring the converted mana cost of spells with X in their
casting cost, X is considered to be zero. So if you discard your
Krakilin to Volrath the Fallen, he will get +2/+2 until end of turn
because the Krakilin's converted mana cost is 2 (0 + G + G = 2).

It depends.
While you're -casting- the spell, it's X plus the other amount of mana,
with X 'seen as its full value'.

If the card's -not- a spell you're casting, right now, then any X in its
mana cost is 'seen as' 0.

Okay. You're not -casting the Krakilin- as a spell when you do this. So
Krakilin's X in its mana cost counts as a 0; the mana cost is "0GG", and
the converted mana cost is 2, only. Similarly, while Krakilin is -in play-,
it's a creature whose converted mana cost is 2 and whose mana cost is just
GG... but while you're casting a Krakilin -spell-, the full X value is
'visible' to things like Spell Blast.
