I'm new, so be kind.

If you attack with a black creature that has protection from white, can your
opponent still block you with a white creature? If so, what happens? What
if the white creature has protection from black?

Thanks!

Nope.

Still nope.

Protection from [color] means exactly 4 things, no more and no less.
1) cannot be Damaged by a [color] source
2) cannot be Enchanted by a [color] enchantment
3) cannot be Blocked by a [color] creature
4) cannot be Targetted by a [color] source

So the Prot-white creature cannot be blocked by a white creature, whether
or not the white creature has Prot-black.

In a nutshell:
No, a white creature can't block creatures with protection from white.
If the white creature has protection from black, whoopee. Nothing happens,
because he still can't block the pro-white creature.

Just remember what protection is:
(blue as an example)
-The creature cannot be blocked by blue creatures.
-The creature cannot be the target of blue spells or abilities (although
untargeted effects, like Evacuate, still affect it).
-The creature takes no damage from blue sources.
-The creature can't be enchanted by blue enchantments.

*-note that all these effects only affect creatures that are in play. You can
still counter a creature with pro-blue (except Scragnoth, of course...).

Nope. PfWhite does four things:
1) "Prevent all -damage- to this creature from white sources"
2) "This creature can't be -enchanted by- white enchantments"
3) "This creature can't be -blocked by- white creatures"
4) "This creature can't be the -target- of white spells or abilities".

#3 stops the white creature from being a legal blocker to declare.

>What if the white creature has protection from black?

That doesn't change anything. None of #1-#4 say anything like "ignore
any effects at all of a <color> source"; they only do those four
specific things. A creature with pro-black can -block- a black creature
... but it can't -be blocked by- one.
