when I control a dual land like Tundra, for example
how many basic land types does that count for ?
0 because it's not a basic land ?
or 2 since it says "Counts as a island and plain" ?
please reply to my personal email too...

2. It counts both as an island and as a plains.

The latter.

The Invasion taplands count only as their own type (e.g. Shivan Oasis
is just a Shivan Oasis, not a Forest and a Mountain) They're not
basic lands, and they have no basic land types.
The original dual lands are also not basic lands, but they do have
basic land types. So a Taiga is a nonbasic land that has basic land
types of Forest and Mountain in addition to its own type of Taiga.

Yep. "Domain" cards... Most of them actually say "the number of basic land
types among lands you control", which is the same thing.

Two.
>0 because it's not a basic land ?

2, because it is an island, and is a plains. Its third land type, Tundra,
isn't a basic land type, so doesn't get counted.

Correct. They don't say they count as a basic land, or that they are a
basic land type, so they don't have a basic land type. (They're not basic
lands anyway; neither is Tundra. But a Tundra is a nonbasic land that -has-
two basic land types... while the 'new duals' have only one land type total,
are nonbasic, and thus only have a nonbasic land type...)

Exactly. If they don't say they count as basic land types, they don't
count as basic land types. [Neither these neo-duals nor the original
duals _are_ basic lands at all, but the old duals _count_ as basic land
types.]
There are ten basic lands, in five categories.
Swamp
Snow-Covered Swamp
Island
Snow-Covered Island
Forest
Snow-Covered Forest
Mountain
Snow-Covered Mountain
Plains
Snow-Covered Plains
Snow-Covered [basic land type] count as a [basic land type].

wow, any land that is not named forest or plains or swamp or island or
mountain is nonbasic. this includes the old duals, the painlands and the
invasion duals. the only difference is that the old duals have 3 land types,
two of which are basic land types (note: land types not lands)
and as for the invasion duals: now they only count as their own land type
example: coastal tower
just has as land type: coastal tower (and nothing else, the fact that
it produces U and W doesn't change that)
nonbasic and basic is not a type of land,it is a categorie.
hope it helps

yes, so that's a maximum of 5 (plains, forest, mountain, swamp, island)
>when I control a dual land like Tundra, for example
>how many basic land types does that count for ?
>0 because it's not a basic land ?
>or 2 since it says "Counts as a island and plain" ?
the _original_ dual lands have 3 land types, two of which are basic
for example: tundra has as land types:
1) tundra
2) plains
3) island
so for cards like coalition victory or others that look at the number
of basic land types you control, a tundra would count for 2 basic land types
(note: dual lands are nonbasic lands)
(second note: only the _original_ dual lands have 3 land types.
the pain lands have only 1 and the invasion duals also and the planeshift
_trio's_ will have 2 (liar in addition to its ownà (if the spoiler is correct))
hope it helps
Almost. There -are- five other basic lands; they've been mentioned in this
thread a few times... but they only appeared in one (1) expansion.
yes, but seeing how snow-covered lands are also basic and are only snow
-covered in addition to their basic land type, i let it out here
but yes, i did know it at the time i typed my msg in.
