It means, "Of or from Phyrexia", which is a mythical place in
Dominaria. It's like saying, "American Cheese." :)

Phyrexia is a sub-plane of Dominaria (where most of the action in the
Magic universe takes place). Phyrexia is an evil plane full of vicious
artifact creatures. Many artifact creatures come from Phyrexia. It was
either Urza or Mishra who first discovered Phyrexia in the 'modern' age.
In Magic, Phyrexian cards are usually black or artifact.

I have read the name somewhere before Magic came out, in some mythology or
what that phyrexia is a place of evil and madness. Yes, WotC took the idea
off an existing legend.
But phrexian.. the word in magic cards usually can be replaced by the word
"Useless" like:
Useless Marauder, Useless Tribute, Useless Dreadnought, Useless Walker,
Useless Devourer, USeless Portal, Useless Vault, Useless Purge.....
Maybe except of the War beast
Maybe we could put together a Useless Deck.
Maybe WotC will print other cards than Useless cards (give us opposite
color pain lands!)
later,
Kenneth

Out of curosity, is there anywhere on the 'net one might find out about
the lore and history of Dominaria?

Phyrexian Vault is far from useless, particuarly in a fast mono-black
stairwell
deck - or thalids, or outpost, or anything that generates weenies, for
that matter.
