PTLA: Why it sucked

I have very little to say about Pro Tourney 6. I sucked. I really
sucked. I finished 209th. I drafted correctly. My decks were fine.
Here is the quick rundown:

Round 1, vs Brian Weissman: 1st game I win, Brian claims he was mana
screwed, but it was more of a color screw, which is certainly less
extreme. 2nd game we both mulligan, I get only 2 land of the second
draw and never draw another. Now that is mana screw. Game 3: I
don't block. I get Torched. I could have blocked. I was at 14, he
had 12 land, his creature did 3. I could have thrown a Warthog in the
way. But, I didn't. I lose. What a way to start. 0-1

Round 2, vs Robert Malin: Game 1, Game 2: Land. Land. Land. Land.
Land. Land. Land. Land. Land. Land. Land. Damn, land rules. 0-2

Round 3: I finally win despite Savage Twister wrecking me and being
followed up by a Bone Harvest one game. 1-2

I then draft at a 1-2 table. These people have no idea what they are
doing. One other player knows what is up. Eric Kirkman normally
knows, but he drafts rather poorly for some reason, I think he got
screwed by the bad players switching colors arbitrarily middraft. My
deck is very strong. U/W/B, 2 Crocodile, Mist Dragon, Powersink, Mind
Harness, 2 Feral Shadow, 1 Tar Pit Warrior, 1 Enfeeblement, 1
Firewalker, Nekrataal, Purgatory, Afterlife, Remedy, Coercion,
Gossamer Chains, Reign of Terror, Dirtwater Wraith... Lots of goods.

Round 4: Color screwed completely. I can't cast any of the various
key spells in my hand. I lose to the things my deck eats for lunch.
Nekrataal and Reign of Terror sit in my hand while green creatures
kill me. 1-3

Round 5: I draw nothing. My opponent actually admits to me before the
match that I outdrafted him badly, his deck sucks, and he basically
plans on losing. I die to Shaku, Endbringer. I draw absolutely
nothing. One game is 6 land and a Mist Dragon, and he Stupors the
Dragon. 1-4

I drop out like the loser I am.

So, despite drafting correctly for the most part, I go 1-4. Some
other notable don't make the second day (Scott Johns, Mario Robaina,
Jason Zila, Olle Rade), but this doesn't make me feel any better. I
play in the PT Qualifier and go 0-2. It is not my weekend. I
attempted to do a good deed by giving Dave Humpherys a sligh deck
minutes before the qualifier since he is unqualified. He goes 5-1-1
but does not make the final 8. Things aren't going well. We also got
kicked out of our hotel room. Then teammate Worth Wollpert appears to
be on his way to the top 8 when he gets Torched. Torch is the coolest
thing about Mirage draft. The whole weekend comes to a pathetic end
when David Mills gets DQed. Anyone who thinks that he should have got
the full punishment and lost his money is an asshole. That is all
there is to it.

There were some bright spots to the weekend. Bob Maher, Rudy Edwards,
Mario Robaina, Pete Leiher, and Aziz at least helped support my belief
that some Magic players are still pretty cool. Congrats to Tommi
Hovi, for kicking some ass with green fatties. All I have to say to
Truc, John, and Brian is that I guess he had time to cast Jungle Wurm.

I'm going to go do some schoolwork now. See you in Paris.

Yeah, I hafta say that someone drawing 4 mana in a row to torch you when you
have complete control sucks. Sucks alot.

But I'm not bitter :)
