Hello Everyone!
Over the last few months, I've been putting together this list with the
help of a dozen other misprint/error collectors, and regular magic
players from around the world. I'm trying to compile a comprehensive
list of every card that has a mistake on it - problems as major as the
wrong picture, to as minor as a mistake of one letter missing in the
flavor text. Inevitibly when I post, I get word of some new obscure
misprint that I didn't know about - that's where I need your help! I
especially need help tracking down rumors of misprints in foreign Urza's
Legacy.
At the end of this list is my updated misprint trade/sale list! I have
found quite a few goodies, includinga black casting cost sinbad, and
chinese legacy misprints. also - someone didn't pay me for an e-bay
auction, so i've got some fantastic mis-cuts available too!

Part 1: New Additions to the list
If you're a veteran subscriber, you're probably most interested in
what's updated. Here are the
newest misprints I have heard about - Please note that a ? generally
means that I don't have it, and
haven't seen it, but have heard about it from reliable sources, and a *
means i'm looking for it and
will trade for or buy it!!
Spanish Temporal Aperture - has an extra '0' before the X in the text
box
Spanish Phyrexian Denouncer - Spells Hasta 'hesta' which doesn't exist
in the Spanish Language
German PO Wind Drake - missing flavor text*
?Korean WB Force of Nature* - missing artist credit (really want this
one if it exists!) *
?All Italian Legacy Lands - Missing expansion Symbol* i need them all!
English Legacy Spawning Pool - Second Black mana symbol is missing

Italian WB Mesa Pegusus - colorless '1' in cc is in a dark gray circle,
like the ones that are around
black mana symbols in that set. other colorless #'s are in light
brownish circles
Japanese Illumination - 'c' in O'Connor is not capitalized
Japanese Locust Swarm - Credits 'William Donohue' not William Donohoe
German Ghitu Encampment - Card name "Ghitu Encampment", called
'Ghitulager' in text box
Chinese Legacy Cloud of Faeries - Card name Clouds of Faerie, text
refers to it as Cloud of Faeries
Chinese BB Firebreathing - Black and White ink in name don't match
English 5th edition Ironclaw Curse - Also has Portuguese copyright date
on half of the copies
I think that does it for new additions.
Now...on with the entire list! These are all the misprints I know
about. * means i do not have it,
and ineed it! please let me know if you know about any i don't have on
this list!!!! Also, please
correct me if i'm wrong on any of them - some of the asian ones i cannot
read, and i am only going
on what i was told!
Cards Preceded by a + are new or have had a status change.
Please note that i am not counting summer magic -the blue hurricane,
demonic tutor w/o pentagram,
etc. This set was never *supposed* to be released to the public, so i
don't count it. besides, it's
nearly impossible to get any cards from this set! One or two cases were
accidentally sent out to the
UK, but even getting ahold of a common is pretty hard to do.
PLEASE ALSO NOTE: I know about various inking and cutting mistakes
throughout the history
of Magic, but for the most part, I want this list to be something that a
Misprint Collector can use as a
checklist, knowing that all or most of the printings of these specific
cards were incorrect. But I do
collect miscut and mis-inked cards - I'm especially looking for bleached
cards, and some specific
Fourth edition Alpha-cuts.

BB Spanish Serra Angel -printed with Time Elemental picture and blue

This card is actually the Time Elemental with Serra Text and casting
cost
Revised Serendib - Ifh-Biff picture and green background
Revised WB German Drudge Skeleton - Swamp picture and background
Revised WB German Mana Barbs - Sedge Troll picture
BB German Wald - (forest) printed with plains picture
4th Edition WB German El-hajjaj - printed with warp artifact picture
BB French Aladin's ring - printed with Jandor's ring picture
This is actually a Jandor's Ring with wrong text
Spanish Mirage Reality Ripple - Shaper guildmage picture
Spanish Burrowing - printed with the strip mine picture and background
ALSO: I have confirmation that Korean Animate Wall is NOT Armageddon
As far as I know, these are the only 9 cards printed with the wrong
picture, arguably the biggest and
most noticeable mistake to be made on a card.
There are other misprints having to do with pictures, and they are:
Jamuraan Lions (Visions).
The English picture seems zoomed in 50% from every other foreign
printing - you can't see nearly as
much of what i think is a pretty cool picture. When I started looking
for these, I thought the foreign
ones were misprinted. Now, I think the English one is misprinted. Many
of you wrote to confirm
this - the non-English cards show a lot more of the picture. I got 4
lions in the mail from
Germany...and 1 of them was like the English picture! Zoomed in! I
still don't know why this
happens...are other language cards 'fixed' like this one was? The
Germans are notorious for 'fixing'
misprints...
Skulking Ghost in MI seems to have two different print runs with
slightly different cropping. On one
printing, the picture is darker and richer, and centered about 1/8th of
an inch lower than the other
printing. The easiest way to tell is by looking at Robert Bliss'
Autograph in the upper right corner. I
have no idea how common or rare either print is, but they both seem to
be pretty easy to find in LA
stores.
ITALIAN Grindstone..."Mola". I have it on good authority that at least
SOME if not ALL of these
cards are like this. I would love to hear if anyone has any normal or
misprinted ones.
Cards with the wrong casting cost:
BB Korean Sinbad - 1 Black and 1, instead of Blue. Everything else
about the card is normal.
Portal 2 Extinguish - this common is missing ink around the teardrop -
it's just a white mark.
Korean Winged sliver - 2U instead of 1U
Korean Animate Wall - 3W instead of W
Chinese Silent attendant - W instead of 1W
Chinese Opal Caryatid - 1W instead of W
Chinese Hush - 2G instead of 3G
Chinese ROP Land - W instead of 1W
Anthologies Warrior's Honor - 1W instead of 1WW
Anthologies Armored Pegasus - 2W instead of 1W
Anthologies Samite Healer - 2W instead of 1W
Anthologies Mogg Raider - RR instead of R
Portuguese IA Pyknite - 1G instead of 2G
German IA Venomous Breath - casting cost shifted to the left
Alpha Orcish Oriflamme and Artillery - 1R instead of 1RR - not really a
mispint - corrected in Beta.
Spanish WB Ornithopter - 1 instead of 0
French WB Glasses of Urza - 0 instead of 1 - I still need this!
Italian Dire Wolves - 3G instead of 2G
Alpha Cyclopean Tomb* - No casting cost listed*
?*Spanish? Aladin's Lamp? - Costs 1 instead of 10? I would like
confirmation on this...
+?*Mystery Italian Legacy Card*? Rumored to have the wrong casting cost
Something wrong in the text box...Or on the name.
BB Korean Clockwork Avian - lets you tap to put up to 7 counters,
instead of 4.
WB German Nettling Imp - missing the tap symbol
French IA Lava Tubes - gives R and G instead of R and B.
Infinite Authority - creature is spelled 'creaeture' in the 5th instance
IA Johtull Wurm - Wurm is spelled 'Worm' in the text box
BB Italian Royal Assassin - destroy target creature that has been
tapped.
Japanese Warmth - gain 3 life instead of 2
BB Japanese Amrou Kithkin - cannot be blocked by creatures power 3 or
greater, not 2.
Can anyone confirm this is a misprint? It may actually say '3 or
greater' - I don't speak JP!
WB Spanish Mana Vault - I love this one! It's missing the line that
says you can tap it for mana. it
only has the bad side effects listed!
WB German Cursed Land - says that the land does the damage, not the
enchantment.
BB Korean Aladin's Lamp - missing mana circle around X
Revised Bottle of Suleiman - missing tap symbol
Cold Storage - missing all kinds of text about where cards go when on
cold storage
Wall of Junk - does not say anywhere in the text box that it is a wall.
Alpha Unsummon - says 'enchantments on creature are CARD ed' - with all
caps.
Alpha Mana symbol problems...Many cards, like Demonic hordes, drain
life, and rock hydra, have
letters corresponding to mana symbols instead of mana symbols. i am not
going to list them here.
Aerathi Berserker - missing Ae in name
Arcum's whistle - missing mana circle around first X
Japanese Rootwater Diver - lets you get a creature instead of an
artifact
German Ebony Charm - this one is really messed up - the first effect is
'all players lose 3 life.' the
second effect is correct, the third says that target creatures gains
first strike. What makes this one
even stranger is that it was actually corrected by WOTC in a later
printing, which even says 'correct
version' at the bottom.
All Hallow's Eve - is a Sorcery, should be Enchantment
German Tin-Wing Chimera - says 'Tin Wing Chimera' as card time, not
Artifact Creature
Alpha Birds of Paradise* - has two // in the text box*
Chromium - the Rampage 2 is in a mana circle
Blood Lust - says target creatures instead of target creature
Japanese Cursed Scroll - activation cost 2 instead of 3
Gaea's Touch - everything shifted to the left
French IA Jester's Mask - Says target player instead of opponent!
??Kird Ape?? - +1/+2 when islands in play*? This probably does NOT
exist.
Revised Bottle of Suleiman and Nevinyrral's Disk - missing tap symbol
Alpha Red Elemental Blast - was instant instead of interrupt.
Mountain Stronghold - worded differently than the other 4.
WB German Castle - gives +0/+2 to all untapped creatures
WB German Dwarven Weaponsmith - Gives ALL of your creatures +1/+1
?BBGerman Verduran Enchantress*- Draw a card every time a spell is cast*
German IA Karplusan Forest- Last tap arrow is in a completely BLACK
circle
BB German Kormus Bell - says that you can tap Kormus Bell for Mana or to
attack, instead of
lands, in the 3rd sentence
+?French Kormus Bell?- Not quite sure if there is a version of this card
that has a similar error to the
German one.
Korean WB COPs* A WB edition of Korean COPs has only the text of COP
Black in all of the
boxes. COP Red is called COP red, but actually gives you protection
from Black. I can confirm
this is true with Red and Blue, but I still need Black, Green, and
White.*
Korean City of Brass* - It is translated as 'City of Yellow Metal' but
is referred to as 'City of Blue
Metal' in the text box.*
Korean Undiscovered Paradise - Return it to your hand during your UPKEEP
WB Korean Killer Bees*-missing "Flying"*
German IA Norritt - First line of text AND 1st tap symbol are about 1/3
smaller than the rest of the
text and 2nd tap symbol.
Portuguese 4th edition WB Goblin Balloon Brigade* - All text is in
italics, even the flying ablitiy.* - I
really would like this! There is also a rumor that the Black Bordered
one has the same problem.
*German BB Veteran Bodyguard - Translates to 'Bodyguard of the Veteran'
- I mixed this up last
time.*
Chinese Duct Crawler - The Black lettering behind the white lettering in
the name is for a different
card! At least two of the characters are different.
Spanish VI Jamuraan Lions - Summon Lions is in all white lettering, no
black background
Spanish WB COP Artifacts: Activation cost is 1 instead of 2.
SP IA Glacial Chasms - Missing "Cumulative Upkeep: Pay 2 life" - this
makes it pretty good!!!
IT AL Varchild's War Riders - Missing "Trample, Rampage:1"
CH BB Ley Druid - under card type, the White lettering doesn't match the
black lettering.
IT BB COP Black - pay 1 mana to prevent ALL damage from that color (?)
not sure of the exact
mistranslation...
IT MI Barbed Foliage* - Substitutes Flanking for Flying* - I'm looking
for this one...
Portugeuse Elite Javelineers - Says if they ATTACK, they can deal 1
damage to attacking creature.
HL French Torture - Both pictures are missing 'Choose Target Creature'
Portuguese Abandon Hope - Text box says "Target player discards 3 cards"
not X cards
Chinese Portal 1 Storm Crow - Missing "Flying"
Chinese BB Time Elemental - There is an unnecessary comma in the
activation cost: 2,UU, Tap:
*Portuguese Healing Salve* -Don't know what printing, but it is printed
as "Healing Salve" in
English, not Portuguese.
German Ghitu Encampment - Refers to itself as "Ghitu Encampment" as the
card name, and
"Gitulager" in the text box.
*Portuguese Headlong Rush* - Gives first strike to all creatures, not
just attacking ones.
*Portuguese HL Clockwork Swarm* - I have it on good authority that the
error with this one is that
it is printed with the Steed's Text Box, but is still called Clockwork
Swarm. Still need one...*
Spanish Phyrexian Denouncer - One instance of 'hasta' is mis-spelled
'hesta' - I don't know where -

Flavor Text Errors:
Segovian Leviathan - LE-5th Edition list Job 40:25 as the quote source -
there IS NO Job 40:25.
Italian LE lists 40:20. The 5th Edition is corrected - but I don't have
one in front of me.
Transmutation - The Legends version flavor text is attributed to
Randall. The Chronicles one is
attributed to Randall Jarrell, The Woman at the Washington Zoo. It
seems like the LE one is the
misprint, but I almost think the part about the Washington Zoo isn't
supposed to be on the
Chronicles version.
German RN Piety lists the Koran text as being from 24:51, when English
quotes 24:52. The French
Piety quotes a different part - 'Le Coran II:148
The following Chinese BB has quotes and then quote source is in English,
but with small errors:
Chinese BB Durkwood Boars: quote says Mark 5:1 instead of 5:13
Diabolic Machine: says "Sevi Mukul" should be "Sevti Mukul"
Ashes to Ashes: says "Maeven" should be "Maeveen"*
Phantom Monster: says "The Haunt Palace" should be "The Haunted Palace"
Flood: says "Vibekke Raggnild, Witch and War" should be "Vibekke
Ragnild, Witches and War"
Morale: where the flavor text reads: "Tividar of Thorn, History of the
Goblin War" - not Wars
+Pikemen: Says "Memoir of a Soldier" should be Memoirs
Anthologies Raging Goblin - has PO raging goblin's flavor text
Anthologies Pyrokinesis - missing flavor text.
Questionable as an error card, but seems that most "Ravenous Skirge"
cards from Saga have a
problem in the flavor text - part of the u in 'flourishes' is missing,
and it looks quite odd.

Renaissance - German and French Mana Clash - Legends instead of Dark

IT RN Xenic Poltergeist - Missing AQ symbol
Promo Foil Beast of Burden - Missing Symbol - These cards were extras
left over from the
pre-release tournaments. They were not stamped with the pre-release
date, but that stamp also had
the expansion symbol on it, so this card does not have an expansion
symbol. This card was given
out to people with a Legends membership in DCI.

Problems below the artist...
BB German Islands - These cards have the copyright in French, not
German! This only happened
with the islands, but it's on all 3 pictures.
French IA Goblin Ski Patrol - Missing copyright date entirely
German IA Pale Bears - Missing copyright date entirely
Italian IA Fyndhorn Elves - Copyright in English not Italian
Phyrexian Colossus - wrong number from set - should be 305 not 306.
The following cards from English 5th edition have a Portuguese copyright
date line in HALF of the
printings, or thereabout:

FE/Wyvern Back
A very few Fallen Empires cards were printed with Wyvern backs, and
shipped in Wyvern boxes. I
have a Combat Medic with such an error, but I am always looking for
more!
Power/Toughness Problems:
Chinese Pygmy Troll - black ink says 2/2, white 1/1
Anthologies Mirri - 2/2 not 2/3
French IA Barbarian Guides - missing black ink layer entirely
BB Chinese Shapeshifter - missing black ink layer entirely
Chinese Suq' Ata Assassin - Missing power and toughness entirely!!!
Alpha Elvish Archers - 1/2 instead of 2/1
Some German Portal card printings are missing the toughness - Skeletal
snake and one other. I
have a correct Skeletal snake, so this mistake was corrected - those
pesky Germans! If anyone
finds any, I still need 'em!!!!****
SP TP Canyon Drake - Missing black ink behind P/T, AND has a black line
under the 2.
Mana Inking Problems...
5 Chinese Exodus White cards were printed with a yellow circle around
the colorless casting cost,
instead of gray. This occurred on the following cards: Wall of Nets,
Standing Troops, Charging
Paladin, Allay, Soltari Visionary.
Chinese Master Decoy - The white symbol in the activation cost is
surrounded by a gray circle
Korean Skyshroud Troll - colorless mana in activation cost is in a
yellow circle
Italian IA Errantry - No red ink in casting cost - gray 'red' mana
symbol
French IA Brown Ouphe - GREEN circle around tap arrow, not gray!
LE Imprison - Shading circle around the 1 is about 1/4 inch ABOVE the
one, not around it! It just
looks like a weird smudge in the text box.
Chinese BB Erosion - the 1 is inside of a blue circle, not a gray one!
Korean SH Volrath's Shapeshifter - SAME THING! Blue Circle in the
activation cost. I think this
error is probably more common than i thought, i just haven't really been
looking for it until now!
Chinese Mounted Archers - W in activation cost is in a gray circle
Japanese Noble Benefactor - Blue in CC is in a gray circle, not blue
Korean BB Amulet of Kroog - no shading behind activation cost
+English Legacy Spawning Pool - missing mana circle around second black
mana symbol
+Italian WB Mesa Pegusus - 1 is in grayish circle, should be light brown

Dark cards by Dennis Detwiler list him as Denise Detwiler! All of them
do!
Unlimited Douglas Schuler Cards - Many of them list him as Schuler
instead of Shuler - too many to
list here. Alpha Icy lists him as Schuler as well.
Italian WL Choking Vines - Ted Naife instead of Ted Naifeh
BB Japanese Dirkwood Boars - Mark Kimble instead of Mike Kimble
Chinese VI Undiscovered Paradise - David Oconnor instead of David
O'Connor (no ' or capital C )

Chinese VI Bogardan Phoenix - the apostrophe in O'Connor is shifted
right on the Black ink layer.

JP BB Savannah Lions - Missing black ink behind artist's name

+As far as I know, All Spanish promo 'book' cards were printed with
White Borders, and perhaps
other European printings were as well. I can confirm Giant Badger and
Mana Crypt were printed
this way...does anyone know if Arena, Centaur, or Sewers were printed WB
in Spanish?
English Oddities
These cards all have something wrong with them that isn't exactly a
misprint:
DK Runesword - hair in text box - about 1/2?
DK Fountain of Youth - hair in text box - about 1/4?
AQ Atog - small 'X' in upper left side of picture - looks like a pen
mark - 1 in 8?

Mis-Cuts
A small number of 4th edition cards were cut like Alpha cards, with
rounded corners. from the
back, you cannot tell them apart from alpha cards! these are very hard
to find. As far as I know,
only uncommon cards were cut this way. Anyone seen any uncommon or rare
alpha cut 4ths? I
have about 100, and I am trying to get all of them if they are
uncommons. I'm always up for trading.
I have lots of doubles.
I just purchased a collection that a fellow says has some commons in
it! I'll keep you all posted.
Some cards are cut with one side of square corners. I guess this must
have happened when the
international collector's edition was being created?
I pulled 12 Legacy commons from a pack with the lower right corner cut
in a neat 90 degree angle -
one completely square corner. Looks like miscuts like this are still
happening....
Many cards are cut so badly that you can see another card on the edge.
I also collect these,
especially if you have a series of them that were on a sheet together.
Some cards were stamped twice and have two images on them. I have never
seen this, but would
love to get one.
WHAT DID I MISS? I'm sure there are probably 100 I missed or don't know
about, many of
them Spanish or Portuguese, or Korean.
Trading/selling
I'm looking for any of the cards with a * above! I would prefer to trade
misprints for misprints. I am
also trading for rare foils from Urza's Legacy.

Alpha Cut Fourths
I WOULD MUCH RATHER TRADE THESE - for other Alpha-cut Fourths. I'm
trying to get
every uncommon and Common Cut this way! But, i would be willing to part
with them at $7.50
each. Since the commons are harder to find than the uncommons, they
will all be priced the same.

I recently put a SEVERELY Mis-cut card up for auction, and was never
paid! It is and English
Alliances card cut at about 2/3s into the card. you can clearly see the
text box of errand of duty,
and bottom half of that pic. The bottom 1/3 of the card is Soldevi
Sage, with the top half of that
picture clearly showing.
I have decided to sell a second one just as severely mis-cut: The top
is Swamp Mosquito, the
Bottom is Gorilla War Cry. Both cards are mis-cut on the back and front
- the backs are cut just
below the word 'Magic'. I will sell these for $8 each.
I am Also selling the following mis-cut cards that are cut so that there
is no bottom border. You can
*almost* see the card on the sheet above them. The cards are CH Ivory
Guardians, HL Sea Sprite,
and HL Koskun Keep, and they're $3 each. I'm affraid I don't have
access to a scanner!
Over-Inked
These Homelands cards appear to have had blue ink spilled onto them at
some point in the printing
process This inking has seeped into the casting cost, picture, and
border of the cards, as well as the
white text of the name, creature type, and artist. I will sell them for
