The way you said it implies that you're SURE that Serra Angels will be

Unlikely. My guess is Swords to Plowshares- both are W to get rid of creatures

Serra's are NOT coming out...(but we won't get into that debate again)...
Anyway, I agree that Spirit Link will definately be a rare. I'd guess that
it either replaces Blessing or Farmstead. Several other life gainers have
made Farmstead an obsolete card, and while Blessing can be a good card, it
is often passed up in favor more general enchantments like Jihad and
Crusade. As for Farmstead, while Spirit Link would certainly be more than a
sutiable replacement as far as life-gaining goes, it wouldn't surprise me at
all if Fountain of Youth made it in as a rare artifact. We'll see
shortly...

Okay, Ben. Pick a dollar amount. We'll make a bet. If Serra Angels are in

Sound good.
Thank you, AOL. I took the liberty of calling the afformentioned store,
and although they say that they would surely LIKE to say they had a box
of 4E, they don't. Secondly - the Spirit Link picture was on the LG
box. It strikes me as odd that they would repeat. I agree Spirit Link
should be in 4E. It's quite like the Serra Angel - it's a defining card
for white. Ask anyone who plays straight white, and most of the time
you'll find both those cards in the deck. It fits the theme. Either
way, however, this rumor is false. I would offer a bit of advice to the
original poster:
Next time, call the number yourself.

Oh, puh lease! If WoC does that, I'll be truly pissed off. That was
one of the things that made me leave D&D: when they bowed down and started
playing kiss ass to the rabid conservatives who were afraid that all this
talk of demons and gods would ruin their children's morals or something.
Magic is popular enough that they really don't need to make it any more
popular to the mainstream, and I think that would be a major step in the
direction of selling out and becoming vacuous and bland.

Yep, I have to agree with ya (despite the fact that I lean toward
conservative most of the time). Although, if you can get your hands on a
copy of the First Edition Player's Handbook, there's an interesting spell
in there called Cacodemon (or Summon Cacodemon, it's been a while since
I've seen it). If memory serves, they give really elaborate instructions
on the summoning process, as well as how to bind the fella and make it do
your bidding. Didn't bother me, but I can see how an outsider might
mistake it for the real thing. But WotC hasn't done anything even
remotely like this, so I can't see where the problem is either...

John Milton is one of the foremost poets in the English language, God
only knows why. He was born December 9, 1608 in London. His first
important piece is Lycidas, an elegy for a lad from his school who
drowned, it was written in 1637, published in 1638.
He was very political and backed Cromwell in the English civil war
(1641) and played a part in the Cromwellion regime. When England again
became a monarchy in 1660, Milton was imprisoned for his support of the
Cromwellian regine, but only for a few months, since he had friends in
high places.
His major works comprise Paradise Lost, Paradise Regained, and Samson
Agonistes, all three in the vein of epic poetry, though he was a hardcore
Puritan and wrote about Christian (not pagan) subject matter (unusual to
the epic form).
He died November 8th, 1674.
You can find out more about demonology from reading Paradise Lost than
from mulling over the Cacodaemon spell. I remember that spell (I had most
of the book memorized) and only if one were REALLY paranoid (not to
mention superstitions and gullible) could one get uptight about it. When
you say you can see how an outsider might mistake it for the real thing,
just what do you perceive to be "the real thing?" I'm not aware that
there is a real thing where demon conjuration is concerned. Call me a
skeptic, but....

I take you on that. 15 against 1 that 20-29 cards are removed.
If more than 30, you give me 15 AN common, if less than 19, you give me 15AN

(kidding. There are 72 basic lands taken out, and 100+ cards introduced in

I believe (although I'm not entirely sure about this) that there was a
posting some time back indicating that Wizards of the Coast had 'learned
from their mistake', and would not promote cards in terms of rarity (Rare
to Common or vice versa) in future editions. Maybe Tom could confirm this.

True. Also serras are definitely in. IN IN IN so are spirit linksø~

That's what I thought. That's what they _said_, that they'd learned
from the Dragon Engine mistake and weren't going to do it again.
Nope.
I've opened a box of 4E, and rarity levels were changed with wild
abandon, both up and down. Mana Batteries are Rare. Flood and Apprentice
Wizard are COMMON. Elvish Archers are still in, as Rares...and Land Leeches
are Common. Xenic Poltergeist is Rare. The bleeding HURR JACKAL is a RARE!
Winds of Change is Rare. Land Tax is Rare. Shapeshifter is Uncommon. Ashes
to Ashes is Uncommon. Carrion Ants are Uncommon. Junun Efreet is Uncommon.
Ghost Ship is Uncommon. Mind Bomb is Uncommon. Sindbad is Uncommon.
Elven Riders are Uncommon. Killer Bees are Uncommon. Winter Blast is
Uncommon. Ali Baba is Uncommon. Pyrotechnics is Uncommon. Divine
Transformation is Uncommon. Osai Vultures are Uncommon. Strip Mines and
Mishra's Factory are Uncommons (only one picture of each). Wall of Spears is
Common (yes, we have Common artifacts now). Pradesh Gypsies are Common.
Blood Lust is COMMON. Brothers of Fire are Common. Eternal Warrior is
Common. Sisters of the Flame are Common. Fortified Area is Common. Seeker
is Common.
There are more new cards but they stayed at their original
commonality. As for what went out, well, Serras are still in (though I
didn't get any; more on that later)....
...but multilands are out.
That's catastrophic. Removing the Moxen et al created a second wave
of players who don't have the cards to compete against the first wave, but it
was necessary for the game. Removing the multilands was not necessary, and
will now create a third wave of players who, while they should be able to
compete against the second wave, will not be able to field the same sort of
decks the older players can. They're going to be limited to two-color decks
for the most part, possibly a few three-color designs, but four- and
five-color decks will be right out for them. And the second-wave players are
now caught between the other two; we can't play our more interesting decks in
Type II, but we still don't have the cards to compete in Type I. Between
this and the commonality nonsense, I expect there to be much weeping and
gnashing of teeth over 4E, even from those who are happy at seeing some good
cards reprinted.
The RV Restricted list was pretty much toast; only Ivory Tower,
Channel and Mind Twist are still in. I can't WAIT to hear the excuse for the
last two coming across. Juggernauts and Kird Apes are out, probably on the
too-much-bang-for-the-buck principle, as are Serendibs. Clones, Forks and
Vesuvans are out, probably as mystifiers, along with Basalt Monolith and Rock
Hydra. There's a bunch more, retirees from the look of them. Grey Ogre and
Uthden Troll are both still in, at their original commonalities, and
unchanged. Yeesh.
From the look of it, the game hasn't changed much overall. Denial
and weenie are still pretty much the only games in town, though land
destruction got a boost with the inclusion of Blight and Strip Mine (Demonic
Hordes are out, though they weren't essential for a landkiller because of
their high cost), and you can now build a great Stasis deck in Type II with
the addition of Time Elemental, Kismet, Eternal Warrior, Yotian Soldier,
Zephyr Falcon, and Twiddle (yes, it's back. Ironclaw Orcs were the only
other returnee). Weenie decks didn't get much of a boost; in particular none
of the interesting Goblins from DK got moved in, so unless IA has some the
Goblin decks are not long for Type II. (Goblin Rock Sleds are in, but they
don't count.)
Overall, I'm dissatisfied with the new mix. Multis shouldn't have been
removed, Stasis decks shouldn't have been made Type II legal (Stasis should
have been removed, IMO), we didn't need Blight or (especially) Strip Mines in
the game again, Mind Twist and Channel should have gone out with the rest of
the Restricted list, and commonalities shouldn't have been munged the way
they were. Yes, some neat cards came back, but the down side outweighs it,
and while the speculators will lose out on a bunch of cards, they'll more
than make it up as the price of multis shoots out of sight.
