Another constructed deck tournament, notable for being the first Portsmouth
tournament held under the 23/6 and 7/7 dispensation, was held on Saturday the
19th of September. Only 9 people turned up, which is well short of our usual
15- 20. I DO hope that 7/7 had nothing to do with this. Optimistically, other
factors that might have played a part were that the Southampton lads were
probably still in intensive care for sleep deprivation and alcohol poisoning
after GenCon [where apparently our Flyers did NOT get distributed], and also
Louisa Cowie was ill so Drummer John had to stay home and look after her and
Ethan with the result that they certainly couldn't play. Also Greg was on
holiday. Still, quite a few Portsmouth stalwarts WERE away, and as I've said
many times, 7/7 has gone down here like a lead balloon .....

Anyway, the new rules were perfectly well understood and smoothly
implemented, and it was great to have my fellow Prince James Coupe on hand to
keep us all straight. I think we probably forgot about not redrawing WWEF a
few times, but apart from that it all went OK, and Peter Prince even managed
to burn one of my vamps in combat under the new rules!

And the winner was me, Legbiter, with 3VP in the final and a whacking 12 to
get there! I didn't lose a game, didn't even get ousted ONCE ..... and I won
about 200 cards, a t-shirt and a fabby poster. This makes me the top points
scorer in Portsmouth tournaments, though my average per match is still well
behind Rob Treasure, Michael Beer, Steve Wright, Jon Cooper and Barney Baker.
And the MOMENT i have the time [and the data - John Eagles is still sleeping
off his weekend] i will post my winning deck and an account of who else
played what, modelled on James Coupe's excellent GenCon report.

Our next tournament is on the 17th of October. See y'all there, i hope!
