Scorpion sting Q

First question:
Vamp A and vamp B enter combat:
Vamp A plays scorpion sting at sup.
May vamp B play a strike:dodge card (just to cycle) even if the strike
has no effect?

Second question:

Acting vamp A and blocking vamp B enter combat:
Vamp A plays strike:dodge
Vamp B plays scorpion sting at sup.
What happens?
Vamp A's dodge has no effect and he loses his strike for the current
round?

Yes.

He strikes (he doesn't lose his strike), and his strike is ineffectual.

And if that strike dodge had an ancilliary effect like and addition
strike? Does the stinged minion still get that additional if the
strike:dodge fizzles?
