Sorry? What time?

I've heard of this 4.00am before, but assumed that it was a myth,
perpetuated by late night alocohol abuse...

On a schoolnight too - fer shame!!!

It would have been nice to move it to a little later (e.g. 9pm your
time) so we in GMT could at least be conscious enough to write
something other than "Bleeeeurgh....".

Hmmm...

Still, bold move - facing the Hoi Palloi.

Will the chat work in Netscape on Unix (i.e., no Flash requirement, etc.)?

Yes.
It requires Java. It should work on any machine/browser that has Java.

If you'd like to verify that the chat will work on your browser, check
the existsing chats at
http://www.white-wolf.com/Interactive/JavaChats.html

AFAICT, it's necessary to create a character to participate in the chats.
First line says only name (character?, real?, both?), password, e-mail is
necessary if you want to chat OOC. In filling out the form, it keeps wanting
additional info. Is the first line inaccurate or what?

Looks like it's inaccurate.
Fill out the "additional info" that it prompts for.

I dont get it, do we have to sign up for one of these online games to
participate? Or will this develpoer chat use its own sign up proces?

Is there any limit to the number of people? Is it a moderated chat?

No. The link was provided for the purpose stated.

Presumably.

There is always a limit to the number of people a given server can handle.
I don't think we'll be pushing up against that limit, however.

The chat will be unmoderated, TTBOMK.

TTBOMK? What? the thing banns obscene monkey kings? Are you calling me a
monkey king?

Will there be any time limits? I'm going to start making a list of things
to ask. Are you sure you want to do this? >:)

The dilemna!
Play with new cards or participate in chat....
Too bad we couldn't do the that on Sunday while we're still drooling
with anticipation. (some of us at least)

It could be that...or perhaps the more everyday saying of "to the best of my
knowledge" :) I like your version, although banning obscene monkey kings
automatically has its drawbacks. For example: what if a legitimate Monkey
King (non-obscene) tries to connect and cannot because it is registering as
obscene. Sure, there's always the opportunity for obscenity, but the Monkey
King shouldn't be banned from posing legitimate, polite questions.

LSJ: why did you tell people it will be unmoderated? It just encourages
those who've been throwing fits over the new look to come into the room and
dominate it with loads of crap. Hopefully you'll be able to ban people.

Well IF it's like the developer chats they hold for their RPG lines,
they'll probably have their Web guy as a moderator.
Essentially there's 2 chatrooms.
The first one only wieck, LSJ and the moderator can post to, but
everyone will see.
The rest of us will be in another chatroom. We submit a question, then
moderator selects the good ones, and passes them on to lsj/wieck
and if someone's being an asshole they can be kicked out.
Also with the RPG dev chat at least they usually have a couple
skill-testing questions at the end for free prizes.
I don't know if the VTES chat will do the same.

On that note, I am hoping that we can get you to come out on thurs
after the release for a trade fest at All your base? Mostly just
interested in seeing the new art and stuff. And very interested in
trading for your Malkey toys...(if you might be able to part with a
few of them.

This has nothing to do with V:tES but has anyone read that old Swamp Thing
story by Alan Moore about the 'Monkey King'?

I swear that story still scares the bejeebies out of me... *shiver*

Yep, Alan Moore "head" here. Haven't read much of his newer stuff,
though.

Having had this problem a couple of times recently with people using US
based times citing them in GMT and people in the UK not realising that
GMT doesn't vary with our day-light savings, we're currently on GMT+0100
in the UK, so it'll be five hours ahead.

That would, therefore, be 10:00 pm (22:00) in the UK.
