Revisiting the 'official volunteers' list
The Lasombra
official volunteers in the USA about a campaign to get White Wolf to
step up their web support for V:TES. During that project ~30
volunteers were removed for having email addresses that didn't work.
That email also went to all of the National Coordinators and one of
those bounced as well.
Is it time to take back the official volunteers list from White Wolf
and put it back in the hands of the community?

Other examples of concerns:
1) Reports on the White Wolf forums and Path of Blood forums of
volunteer applications languishing for weeks and months.
2) The 'conclave' mailing list is still mentioned in the volunteer
requirements documents but hasn't existed for years.
3) The WotC mailing list is still mentioned in that document and that
hasn't been valid in 10 years.
4) There is still a link to a Prize Support page that hasn't been
valid since Steve Wieck left WW.

What would you want to see from a collection of volunteers to help
promote the game?

1. It's own dedicated website for VTES around the world (other than
the WW website). Potentially creating another society for VTES
players as opposed to nWoD Vampire. (Port across the existing VEKN
numbers of course)
2. Accurate list of contacts in a city (Princes, Primogen). Probably
using email addresses instead of numbers, etc.
3. List of links to valid, current "Domain" websites (e.g. Domain of
Lisboa, Domain of Paris)
4. Clear procedures for everyone involved for a) becoming a prince, b)
replacing a prince (e.g. the Prince steps down)
6. Easy to use sites for others to upload event info & photos.
5. Links to WW, VTES Blogs, Domain Sites
It would be nice to get some more love from WW, particularly in the
area of Prize support for the AusNats (T-shirts please???)

From what we don't hear from WW, VTES seems to be back at the point
where it was as WotC left it for dead.
Perhaps it would be a good think to have volunteers take over again.
IMO, it can't get any worse. ;)
- the WW ranking system does not work (properly)
- prize support seems to be less (from what we hear in this ng)
- communication to the playerbase is almost non-existent
How hard can it be for WW to make a small statement on the ng about
the current state of VTES? Players would appreciate that.
What has happened to the really cool live-chats with LSJ (and Steve
Wieck, at that time)?

Maybe. I wonder what that would look like and how it would be
structured.

The WW website is poorly maintained and that's a major
understatement. If there was a site where those among this vast group
of nerds who have web master skills could put them to work making and
maintaining links, a forum, and a contact list, WW could be left with
just the most basic responsibility to announce new sets. How hard is
it to say, "come buy my shit?" Maybe too hard for them, but at least
part of the operation could run smoothly. I nominate Lasombra to
provide the architecture, maybe off of his own site.

There need to be different levels of volunteering (i.e. princes, state
and regional coordinators, national coordinators). The contact list
can be public information and the people at various levels can be in
charge of keeping their domains aware of goings on. Think of it like
Princes, Justicars, and Inner Circle members.
Thank you, Lasombra, for bringing this up again. I think this sort of
thing can be done, the main thing is to have a base of operations. If
that can get figured out, people can put effort into coordinating VTES
in their area of influence as they see fit.

Well, if you're going to include a "structure" for the volunteers,
then you'd need to spell out what each person is supposed to do, how
you resolve issues (up and down the structure) and have easy contacts
for all parts of the structure.
I'd be suggesting that if you're going to create a new structure, such
as the one you mention, then you should also create a new group
(realistically, we might be part of the Elder Kindred Network, but
doesn't that also include the LARPers and RPGers?). Or at least
completely overhaul and refresh the existing one. It would also be
worth allowing the leaders in areas to choose their title based on
their city's Storyline Allegiances (e.g. If you're from a city/group
that has recently had a history of Sabbat-leaning, then the leader
could be the Archbishop and not the Prince, unless you want to make it
very simple)
I don't have the web-fu to make it, but I think it would be awesome if
others who do have the Web-Fu started to set it up and make it one of
those lovely to interact with sites. Also there are a number of
groups already on Facebook that probably should get more
interconnected.
