Two fairly simple questions.

1) Opponent plays Blood Fury. Can I play Hidden Strength? Blood Fury
says "cannot be prevented", does this indicate the card can't be
played? Or that it'll have no effect?

2) I have a CEL minion with a Flamethrower. The opposing Minion plays
Rolling with the Punches SUP/Skin of Steel SUP. Can I Additional
Strike and Rotschreck? Or because the prevent is already in place, it
supplants the capacity to use Rotschreck?

No.
You cannot play damage prevention cards when you cannot prevent
damage.

That it cannot be played.

>2) I have a CEL minion with a Flamethrower. The opposing Minion plays

Absolutely.

Rotschreck does not care how the victim vampire will handle the
damage.

Rotschreck cares about the attempt to inflict aggravated damage (with
a strike that is effective at the current range).

See also the FAQ, section 3.5.

3.5. Can Rötschreck still be played...
Can Rötschreck still be played at long range while the reacting minion
declares an aggravated hand strike?

No. Cannot be used if the "attempt to use aggravated damage" is not
applicable at the current range. The most common example is an
aggravated hand strike done at long range.

Can I play a Rotschrek if I am attempting to do 0 aggravated hand
damage?
No.

Minion A announced his Ivory Bow as a strike, and the opposing Minion
B played Blood Rage. Can Rötschreck be played on Minion B?
Yes.
Blood Rage does not resolve before the Strike Announcement phase,
which is when you play Rotschreck, so Rotschreck can still be played.

Can Rötschreck still be played if the opposing minion plays a Strike:
Combat Ends?
Yes.
Rötschreck cares about the attempt to inflict aggravated damage, not
whether or not the strike will successfully resolve.

Can Rötschreck still be played if the opposing minion is treating
aggravated damage as normal damage? What if they played a Skin of
Night, Armor of Terra, or Adaptability?
Yes.
Rötschreck cares about the attempt to inflict aggravated damage, not
whether or not the vampire receiving the damage can prevent it or
treat it as normal damage.

Can Rötschreck still be played if the opposing minion has a Flak
Jacket, Leather Jacket, or some other way to prevent the damage?
Yes.
Rötschreck cares about the attempt to inflict aggravated damage, and
the damage resolution stage is never reached.

Carpe noctem.

See 6.4.6 of rulebook. You play prevention cards to prevent damage if
possible.

Since you cannot prevent Blood Fury with Fortitude, the condition for
playing Hidden Strength does not exist. You are not taking any
preventable damage.

In otherwords you cannot prevent '0' damage. '0' in this case means '0'
preventable by fortitude.

Actually Rotschreck is played when you announce the aggravated damage
strike. So the opposing minion will not be able to play damage
prevention first. You play it when you attempt the strike.

Master: out-of-turn. <Frenzy.> Put this card on a vampire when an
opposing minion attempts to inflict aggravated damage on him or her,
whether the damage would be successfully inflicted or not. Combat ends.
This vampire is tapped and sent to torpor. This vampire does not untap
as normal. During this vampire's next untap phase, burn this card.

My point here, was that the opponent had already played the Damage
Prevention. The tactic was more "Well, if he doesn't have DP, I don't
have to waste Rotschreck. If he does have DP, I can Add Strike and
still annoy him."

Just looking at ways to bleed Damage Prevention cards out of hand.

Correct. Damage prevention can only be played when there is (preventable)
damage to prevent.

How can they DP when the combat hasn't reached that step (and with Rotschek,
it won't reach that step)

As soon as you whip out the aggro-damage your Rotschek sends them psycho and
freaks them out. (aka fear frenzy)

Which is why he was asking about playing a normal strike, letting them
play damage prevention, then additional striking with agg damage and
Rotschreck'ing the additional strike - since he's planning to Rots
anyway, he might as well play some normal strikes first, to suck out
the damage prevention so they won't have it for later combats when he
doesn't have a Rots in hand.

That's it, pretty much. And given that Rotschreck is a Master OOT, if
I can send him to torpor the old fashioned way, it means the potential
for multiple Block/Maneuever/Flame. I blow the Rot on the first, they
know I can't do it again. Typically, I'd want to keep the Rot for the
Strike:CE.
