Isnt that the name of a Slipknot song.
Ok, this is in no way a criticism of this deck (which looks totally
solid and reasonable), but in reference to the "maybe we should fix
contestation" thread, this is a perfect example of a deck that would
be completely screwed if it got its first minion contested--all the
vampires are big. It has crypt acceleration (likely as does whatever
deck might have the same minions). Just a accidental fantastic
example.
-Peter
Not to dispute your thesis, but I would say that this is also an
example of a deck that I would love to see hosed by contestation.
Arika still holds the title of most broken vampire, not just because
of her disciplines and votes (which make her perfect and awesome in
this deck), but because of her disgusting special which has the
potential to mean virtually nothing against some decks and completely
hose some other decks that don't deserve to be hosed... Though that
isn't the only reason I like to see it hosed. People still complain
about weenies and think big vamps need to be powered up, but I still
think that the majority of overpowered decks tend toward the multiple
10-caps side of the spectrum.
Well, sure. But whether or not it is is, ya know, totally random. And
clearly not worrysome enough to keep someone from playing this deck.
And it could have just as well been made of 4 other huge vampires and
been in the same position (i.e. a deck that would be totally hosed by
early contestation issues).
-Peter
I disagree - this deck actually has some solid diversity in the crypt;
the designer can win (more difficult, sure) without Arika, or any one of
those vamps. Tough if xe's double contested, but if one vamp getting
contested is rare, having 2 contested is even rarer still...
I didn't mention it in the Contestation thread of doom; but when I won
the Qualifier with my Lutz deck, one of the games I won, I never saw
Lutz. I brought out the other IC's I had in my crypt, and did OK.
Crypt diversity, even for superstar decks, is a Good Thing (tm).

Yeah, but not the point.
If Erol's spent the first 2 turns and put 8 pool on a minion, and then
that minion pops up crosstable (or, if Erol's gone second, three turns
and all 10 blood and then it gets contested 'cause someone else would
be totally hosed), that's essentially game over. There's no way to
get that 8 to 10 pool back fast enough, as well as bring out another
minion (another 10 pool) and still survive most of the time.

Ye well, I didn't mingle in the contestation thread but that's not really
different from putting 1 on your 10-cap in the first turn and your predator
influencing out Mustafa Rahman and Ohanna on his turn.
You're going to get virtually ousted before taking your first action, except
apparently people are ok with this scenario, but not with contestation. I
mean, sure, randomly getting crosstable contested in the above described
situation sucks. I don't think it sucks any less than sitting first with a
10-cap and finding 4 Caitiff in your back. You're gonna lose with a
perfectly reasonable deck without having any fair chance. And it's just as
random.
That said, a reasonable solution would be to allow someone to spend 1
transfer to move 2 counters from 1 vampire to another. That would be simple,
a welcome addition to the rather limited amount of things you can do in the
influence phase and would at least not totally screw you out of the game
because you could use 1 turn to move 8 counters from Arika to someone else,
get bled for a bit and then have a minion out one turn later.
