Yeah, it really should require Thaumaturgy to make it flow with V:tM.
That and a few other inconsistencies really annoyed the heck out of me.
All of a sudden, anyone can untap whenever he or she feels like it, at no
cost whatsoever regardless of clan. And how the hell does Fortitude get Blood
Fury or whatever? Since when can _Fortitude_ be used directly offensively?
Get's annoying, don't it?

Yeah blood fury is thaumaturgy... however blood rage is Fortitude and does
more or less the same sort of thing.
I think that being able to block an action even though tapped (Wake
doesn't actually untap the vampire - it just blocks or reacts as if it
were untapped) is too important to be restricted by discipline, and I
would guess that the game designers felt the same way. Note that Rat's
Warning can only be used against bleed actions, so it's more limited than
a Wake, and limited by discipline (Animalism).
While Jyhad is based on Vampire: The Masquerade, we should avoid making
too many assumptions about the rules from one dictating the rules from
the other, as WotC has been quick to point out. Certainly some
compromises had to be made along the way. I think that this particular
compromise works well for all players, no matter how it treats the
Masquerade rule book.
Keep in mind, too, that many Jyhad players (myself included) don't play
Vampire and don't plan to, so that fine points like this one, while
interesting to read, don't influence our game play much.

Only if you play Vampire, which many of us don't. I suppose it's like
going to a movie that's based on a book. The movie never seems to be as
good as the book, because some things are lost in the translation, but
the movie can still be enjoyable.
Many weeks ago, someone on alt.games.jyhad analyzed the number of
commons per discipline -- fortitude had an extra and thaumaturgy was
missing one. That is, if blood rage was thaumaturgy, they'd both
match the number of commons that all the other disciplines have.
Oh, one exception -- obfuscate had an extra common. This is probably
"concealed weapon" since concealed weapon seems to be an inferior
version of "disguised weapon."

Seems like a clear case of misprintitis to me. Is there an official
ruling on this, Tom? I haven't been able to find one on marvin or
anywhere else since I started looking yesterday.

There is a fortitude version of "Blood" something. Maybe "Rage"?
As for the question "how can Fortitude be used offensively" I would say
reread the card and look at the intent. It is sort of a modification on
"Undead Persistence" -- sorta' ignores the pain and allows you to get in
close and ravage the other vampire.

Well, except Obfuscate, which also has an extra common, but i bet that
concealed weapon was supposed to be a non-discpline card [it has no bold
text and is severely limited compared to disguised weapon].
Well, to add fuel to this fire, in the Masquerade game, Blood Rage
-is- a Thaumaturgy power. (Level 2, btw) So it looks like a printer
goof for WotC to me.

Yah know, I never thought about that until this very moment. Makes
complete sense, wondered before why Concealed weapon was so wussy
(and has no Master version.) And here I just thought it was
because Behind You was 100% dork card of the year.

If you're looking for a V:TM reference for Fortitude being used
offensively, think of bashing your head into a door to get through the
door. That's fortitude, not potence.
