On March 14th, Praxis Seizure: Toronto took place at the Hairy Tarantula
game room. We had a total of 9 players with much diversity in deck design.
Congratulations goes out to Dallas Card, who won the tournament, and who is
still waiting for his prize from WotC/FRPG. (Jennifer?) Strangest thing
about the tournament - not 1 single Thoughts Betrayed, Return to Innocence,
or Mind Rape was played. Not saying that they were not in decks, they just
weren't played. On to the tournament.
*The Methuselahs and their decks*
Nem's "Absolut Ventrue Classic" 174 tp
Ian McEachern's "Li'l Bastards" -ween dominate/misdirect 162 tp
James' Setites Corruption/Temptation 136 tp
Dallas Card's "Theft Without The Thamaturgy" 108 tp
Mike Hamilton's "Burn Arika, Burn" -Leandro/derange 84 tp
Attilla Bella's "Bam Bam Beast" -Pot/Cel 76 tp
Hong Lac's "Lord Laz" Ventrue Anti 72 tp
Morgan's Tzmisce -lots of agg. and intercept 72 tp
Jay Yellery's Nos/Malk -heavy on the auspex 60 tp
Hong came near the end of the first round and so did not compete until the
second round. We played under specified DCI rules, for three rounds, each
with a time limit of two hours, then a final for the top five players (by
tournament points). Note that none of the games came even close to timing
out.
*Hilights from the rounds are as follows:*
Mike Banishes Jay's bloodless Sheldon with Leandro and some help from Nem's
Ventrues.
MIke's Leandro gets Hostile Takeovered by Nem for 7 pool. (18 pool for
Leandro)
Attilla gets ousted by Ian via a bounced bleed (by Hong) gone stealthy
because the blocker was Beast.
Dallas' Hannibal (with full blood) gets blocked attempting to steal blood
from Ian's ween by Jay's Zoe. Sheldon then plays Legacy of Power, putting
both Zoe and Hannibal in Torpor. Sheldon then plays Sacrificial Lamb,
burning Hannibal.
In 3 games, Ian used Misdirection 4 times to oust a prey.
Hong with only 4 pool left has Ingrid Russo and Lazverinus with a Pulse,
Legendary vampire, and 6 blood on him. Laz gets Hostiled by Nem for 6 pool
and then on Mike's consecutive turn gets Banished across the table by Leandro.
*The Final Round seating:*
Nem, Ian, Mike, Dallas, James (who in turn bled Nem)
Hilights from the Final Round:
Dallas brings out a Tomb of Rameses III in the first round eventually
succeeding to get out both Hannibal and Francois at the same time.
In the third round James called an Ancilla Empowerment that passed. Most
Meth's had 1 minion out, but Ian, his prey's prey, had 5 minions.
Turning point - The Situation. Nem's turn. Nem - 5 pool, Sir Walter,
Emerson and Roland Loussarian ready. Ian - 4 pool. 2 ready weens, all
tapped out. Mike - ousted by Ian. Dallas - 4 pool. Full blood Hannibal,
Francois and Dorian out with a Talbot's Chainsaw. James - 2 pool. Four 3
to 6 pt. Setites. A Temptation on Sir Walter Nash with 6 counters on it,
and a Form of Corruption out. James is hungry...
Nem calls a Conservative Agitation ... 2 to Ian and 2 to James, ousting James
and giving Dallas a VP and 6 pool. A deflected bleed by Hannibal almost
ousts Ian, but it was delflected back to Nem, and Dallas went on to win the
game.

On the ongoing discussion of collusion, there was no evidence to suggest that
deals were made between anyone, either before or during the tournament.
Much of the usual Jyhad complaining was going on, however. Why didn't my
deck do this ...
On a whole, the games were entertaining, diverse and most importantly, fun.
Thanks to all players who showed up and to the Elder Kindred Network for
support and helping organize the Praxis
Seizure World series. We hope to get a demo going soon using premade generic
decks which will be given away. Monthly tournaments are being requested even
though there are not a lot of players, yet. Also a concept has been thrown
around for a summertime Cross Border tournament, possibly Niagara Falls. If
there is any interest, please email me, Badger, or Peter J. Badjka.
Thanks for your time,
Dave Stevers
