Reading the postings, I noticed that, in our group, do not play the
strikes as most of the people seem to play them. Here is how we play:
- Acting vampire choses his strike (if any) and place it in front of him
face down
- Opposing vampire does the same
- Both strikes are turned face up and we resolve the strike.
We have always played like that since the begining of Jyhad and it has
always worked well.
Most people seem to play the strikes face up. I don't remember reading
anything specific about that in the rulebook but I think it does take
out a lot of the excitement of combat.
What do you think?
Your house rule takes away a lot of the advantage that the blocking
minion is supposed to have in combat - that is, the ability to choose
his strike after seeing what the acting minion's strike is.
In Jyhad (and VtES), the only cards that are played face down are the
uncontrolled vampires.

1.b. Acting Minion announces Strike and Target before Blocking Minion
does"
Our group used to play similar to yours, (although, I'm beginning to
find out that a bunch of stuff we assumed was wrong.)
Personally, I think it makes things more interesting to have the acting
minion strike before the blocker. And besides, if it were the case that
Strikes were declared at the same time, I think there would be a few
cards that would be useless.

If you like combat this way, then you'll love Rage (my second favorite
game). But then again Rage favors combat action over any real strategy.

Actually, it would be played face-up, then turned face-down (along with
the other copy).
You don't think I'm going to give up my KRCG just because you put some
random card face down and tell me it's a KRCG, do you? :-)
