Drop in Hordeside on the Runetotem server on a Monday night and you'll
probably see their names. Enkidu. Ublo-Satha. Unre. Matteus. Hazimel.
Arika. I hear they have a Tariq lined up. Oh, and they formed a guild:
Protect Thine Own.
Anyway, I'm going to jump on Runetotem myself next Monday night to
start my own 1st level Undead Rogue, Thetmes. If any of you folks are
there too, whisper me and we'll have some fun. We don't have to obey
the grouping rule.
What type of server is it? I know there are a lot of Vtes folks on
Detheroc which is PvP
how into it are they?
David
Runetotem is a new 'normal' server. We chose it only because there
weren't any 'new' RP servers when we started - several of us (including
myself and Ooi) wanted to play on a non-PVP server this time around.
> how into it are they?
Moderately. Our goal is/was to play as a 5-man party at a fixed time
each week, allowing us to focus heavily on instances and have fun
playing as a mostly-static group long-term.
That said, we usually end up doing a little bit of solo work between
sessions (farming for resources, making sure we all stay close in
level, doing collection quests that would be hideously tedious with 5
people, class quests, etc.)

If anyone wants an invite as part of the PTO guild, pester me via email
or on Runetotem (as Ublosatha).

PVE server, that is teh weak sauce. I'm surprised you aren't playing on
easy mode as Alliance.

RP servers aren't all they are cracked up to be. Bunch of chatter about
how Gnomes are evil and should be part of the Horde and that the Tauren
should come over to the Alliance. I don't know if the Chuck Norris talk
is any more or less there though.

Aramis/Buerger/whatever you know him as and I play on Stormscale (well
Aramis first char was on a PVE, but I convinced him PVP is where its
at). Aramis has been using vampire names the whole time (I think he's
not creative enough to come up with his own names) for his main and
alts. I sometimes use vampire names for alts (Trogdolytia sounded like
a good Tauren name). We're both 60 Horde chars now (I got there last
week - after a year of playing, he's been there a long time). We might
make some chars on Runetotem to goof around with/hang out with you guys
sometime. If you make a char on Stormscale look up Azaneal or Tainted.

Sounds to me like you're challenging them to a battleground match. You
could make some 19s pretty fast, right?
Since several of us have played a bunch on PVP servers already, we
thought it'd be a nice change-of-pace. And since we're planning to
mostly focus on doing instances where there aren't other players to
kill, we thought we'd just skip the whole 'getting randomly, repeatedly
killed by guys 30 levels above you who camp on your corpses while
you're travelling there' option.
Plus we really are only playing once a week, so as a result we're not
doing the 'race to power-level to 60 as fast as we can so we can go
indulge in the endless mutual dick-waving and pissing contests' that
makes up a large part of playing on a PVP server.

I apologize for the newbiness.
What are PVP and PVE?
Are those servers graphical RPG servers, or are they text based; post
or chat?
Thanks for your time to read this, many more thanks if you enlight me.
:)
Luis
P.S. I would have hidden the quoted text if I knew how... sorry.
I probably should have wrote it as PvP and PvE, but rushed my post to
get the smack talk out as quickly as possible. PvP is a Player vs
Player server where the players can attack each other, as opposed to
Player vs Environment where you can only attack computer controlled
enemies.
In the case of World of Warcraft on both server types there is limited
PvP options. On the PvP servers you can attack players of the opposite
faction and different zones protect of make you more vulnerable to
attack from the opposing faction. On the PvE servers you can attack
other players in special PvP Battlegrounds or if both you are your
opponent flag for PvP. I prefer the PvP server because you can kind of
do something about someone being a dick. I say kind of, because a
player many levels above you is all but immune to your counterattacks
and can easily kill you at any time, but if you are lucky you can get
someone from your faction that is on equal footing or stronger than
them to take care of them for you.

They are graphical and World of Warcraft is an MMORPG version of
Blizzard Entertainment's Warcraft series of games. Check out
www.blizzard.com for more info.

My first post to Google Groups looked horrible too. :)
I'm going to try and guess the class of each player based on their
name. Since that was prolly never a consideration when making the
character, I'm sure I'm way off.
Enkindu -> Shaman, at first I was going to go with Warrior, but all
those animals Enkindu has is kinda like Totems, so yeah, Shaman, and
prolly Tauren too, because they are both big, maybe an Orc
Ublo-Satha -> Warrior, with Vis and For is there a better tank? Ublo
and an Orc are prolly equal in prettiness, so yeah, Orc
Matteus -> Celerity is DPS (damage per second) so I'm thinking Rogue,
Troll or Undead would be good choices
Hazimel -> Tough one. Ravnos and especially Hazimel are hard to kill,
so Warrior
Arika -> Paladin, except you are all horde, why Paly, because both
Arika and Palys are broken, you ever try to PvP one of those and right
when you think they are dead its that invulnerabilty aura/Majesty/Skin
of Steel crap
Tariq -> Tariq, the Silent, if this one isn't a Rogue, this played
better reroll their char

Nah, Fire spec'd Mage for Thetmes, Thetmes has the flaming background,
right?
If anyone makes Ur'Shulgi it better be Undead, they both have the same
complexion.
Did I get any right?

I even arranged the face paint so that I have a whilte circle on my
forehead.

Before I picked to be Saulot, I was thinking of creating Sasha Vykos or
Little Taylor as a troll hunter and whatever my pet was, I would always
name it Warghoul.
Mitru, reporting for duty.
Guess my class and win a copper piece.
Cheers,
WES
If you're not an Undead Hunter, you gotta reroll. At least that's what
Mitru's picture looks like to me. Maybe a Troll Hunter, but definately
a Hunter, and the Bow kind, no Guns. Can Undead even be Hunters? I'm
thinking not. Oh well.

Priest, ok. I would have gone Mage with the Thaumaturgy. Oh yeah,
Obeah, Priest is the best way to go. Make sure you set your display
options to not show helmets/hats so you can always see that third eye
(unless you are trying to go incognito).
DING! After picking the class and race, the name fell into place. Big, ugly,
w/ horns. Eventually he'll be a Moonkin druid.
An interesting side effect of being Horde: most of us ended up
non-Camarilla.

I have an undead Priest Saulot on Khaz Modan, along with troll rogue Sennuwy
(she's so pretty).
My biggest complaint is the inability to have a last name in WoW, so I've
tried to stick to VTES characters with memorable and somewhat unique first
names.
Would love to create an Alliance version on the same server (it's PvE, so
it's possible) w/ Camarilla-only names allowed. Democritus will rool yooz!
With my current schedule allowing for zero VTES but tons of WoW, it's been a
fun substitute.

Except that Arika is already on our side. But hey, Arika's evil!

DAMNIT! Some asshole stole that name! Was it one of you? I hope he's a
white-haired Human Paladin, or you're doing it wrong! Now I'm gonna have to
sick Anneke on you!
DAMNIT! You'll have to be schooled by Jaroslav instead! (And this time I
already made him!)
I can see it now. All the best Vampire names get taken and then you
start seeing on eBay, WoW account with character Muaziz, and Potchli,
and Sargon on Runetotem bidding starts at $100.
And we're in violation of the grouping rule. But since this is
non-sanctioned...
You can just about get about away with a Shaman for Ghost Wolf (which is
pretty easy to get, being a level 20 spell, and a 1 second cast with a
couple of talents).

Sorry, no... Tauren.
I figure a Gangrel like Mitru, and as old as Mitru is, would have frenzied
enough times that he would start looking like a giant walking bull.
Anwyay, that's my story and I'm sticking with it.

P.S. I owe you a copper.
> Did I get any right?
You got both Ublosatha and Tariq correct; not all the characters align
perfectly with what you'd expect (especially since one player isn't
really a vtes player but a vtes spouse.)

Mage crossed my mind briefly, but when I think Salubri I think healers.
Now a Salubri Antitribu - that would have to be a Palidan.
